Went to Basspro today got my self two Primos Truth cams 35, batterys, some SD cards, and some deer cane / buckjam. Pretty excited to get them out in the woods!

What do you guys use to read the SD cards? I thought I could use my camera but it turns out a cant?

We have a portal in the computer that you just directly plug the memory card into. Works out good if you have one.

I would buy the batterys and memory cards from somewhere like walmart though. As much as I hate it, there prices on that stuff can't be beat. Especially on the memory cards. The prices on those things at Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, etc......... are just ridiculous.

I always have double the about of cards than trail cameras. Once that cameras are hung and have been running, I just switch the cards out and take the card that had been in the trail camera back to my home computer.

Always exciting getting more cameras to put out. I also have two truth cams. You should set them up in your house and listen to the cams work. They say they fixed the "clicking" noise. Let me know what you think.

Walmart has a few of them: http://www.walmart.com/cp/memory-card-readers/116797

Apart from spending a $100 or more, I don't think you'll find a portable memory card reader. If you do decide to go that route, you might as well look into picking a used Asus Eee PC up from eBay and you'd have a whole computer.

I'm not looking for anything portable really just some like a flash drive that has a SD slot on the back side ...I'm pretty sure they make something like that?

My truth cams have treated me good. I havent ran any video on them just photos. I wish they were smaller but can complain to much since their under $100.

Here is what use,got it from walmart and you just plug it in and then click on how you want to view it. very easy and works well.

Do some test in your yard at night you will get a real world feel for how close the game has to be before the cam triggers and i think you will be very surprised,I really like my 46 model set in 15 sec video mode or 3 pic burst, if your going to run in video mode you better get a bigger gb sd as my 4 gb card fills up pretty fast and then it shuts the cam down. The cam takes a little more time to come out of sleep mode so put it facing up or down a trail so you will get a deer in the pic that cam is a little slow for cross shots. Try and not face the cam towards the south because rising and setting sun spots can trigger the cam causing washouts. I also put a piece of tape over the cams running/trigger lights after i confirm it's running in the field for a little more stealth
mine cam is out right now working hard.. I hope..and is 11 feet up in a tree pointed at a mineral lick so i am hoping the 2 legged kind dont walk off with it.

Good luck with your test and please post on how you like it.

As has already been stated, get two cards for each cam and just swap them out. If you absolutely can't wait until you get home to view the pics, and many of us can't, get yourself one of those digital picture frames to look at the pics once you get back to the truck. I can guarantee you this, you are not going to want to stand out there in the field with mosquitoes, bees, and flys trying to bite you while you view your pics.

    Blessings......Pastorjim

Thanks for all the input and tips guys!

I just got home got them all set up and did some testing inside since it is raining.
So far so good! I have them set at 3 burst pics every minute, you guys think that to much? The pics turned out great no problems what so ever. On the reviews I read people often complained about a shutter nosie I was listening closely when it took the pics and although it is there you really must listen to hear it and I dont think it willl have much of an impact on the deer. My only other observations were the red lights didnt seem as bright as I thought they would which is a good thing and in the pic frame is there a way to change the time from military to standard? Gonna go tape up the indicators now!

Bowfreak, based on your experience with the camera how far away should I place these from the mineral site / trail? and about waist high I assume?

Pat gave some good advice. You just have to use your best judgement in the situation. By this I mean each location you are putting your cameras might call for a little different set up. Cant wait to see some pics.

Got out this morning and set them up heres location 1:

1st camera is set up by the creek about 30 yds from where they cross the cams about 15ft off the main trail looking at a log w/ buckjam / trail in background. Heres a pic of cam1

Cam 2 is on a point extending down to the creek that links two properties. This cam is off a very heavily used trail, the cam is watching some deer cane. Forgot to take a pic of cam 2

Only time will tell...I will prolly check them in 3 weeks...but for now im going to sit by the keg and eat some hamburgers:rock:
