Hi to everyone, I am a new member to this site and enjoy reading all the info. I just bought my first compound bow, a Bowtech Sniper. It was adjusted for me when I bought it, but I don't know if this is correct or not. The draw is set @ 28" pulling 65lbs. When I practice it is easy to hold at full draw, but when I was out hunting I had to hold on a deer and that was not too easy! My question is whether I should set the draw length to 27.5" and then set the draw stop to get back to 28". The reason I ask is because the bow has major "creep", if that is the correct term. It has a awesume wall, it has a draw stop bolt! But it seems to have a very short valley and then the wall. If you relax a bit too much it wants to jump away. Also, do you guys pull pressure on the draw stop or just use it to confirm you anchor? Be nice, I'm new to this, but I love it. I shoot every chance I can and can do about 1" @ 20 yards, 30 opens up a bit, but I'm working on it!

I pull against the stop. Drawing down on your first deer has a tendency to make things a bit differnt!!
That said, the cams on that thing are pretty fierce! So they will indeed want to launch the arrow if you let it down a little!

Thanks for the reply, I dropped to 60lbs and changed the draw length to 27.5" and put the draw stop to factory setting. The Dealer moved it when I bought it. Wow what a differnce!

Without much experience, I can say I really like the way this bow shoots and a friend of mine with a lot, shot it, and liked it better than his 08 DXT. The only thing that they could do better, is put a better arrow rest on it, but I realize it's a package deal and they want to keep the price down. I replaced the rest and learned how to tune my broadheads at the same time. Tomorrow I will check the sights and the broadheads/field tip groups and then I'm off for the woods.:D

The Sniper has drawn blood now too! Shot a little spike, not a trophy but it was the most fun hunting I have ever had. The Slick Tricks did great too, even though I hit it smack damn in the shoulder bone, just up from the elbow. The broadhead shattered the bone and the blades did the rest. Not much holding the leg on after that. Then it went through the ribs, took out the lungs and out the other side. Missed the heart though and not a huge blood trail, but it piled up after about 35 yards. One of the blades was dinged up from the bone, but no biggie! It was a 25 yard shot, I'm hooked.

    Hey Joe,
I am brand new to bowhunting and just bought a Sniper two days ago. I like it very much, I had been shooting a cheap Martin for about 3 or 4 months, decided I really liked archery and jumped in and bought this new bow.
I will be hunting deer in about a month ( Kommunist Peoples Republic of Kalifornia) so I am pretty jazzed - of still having the opportunity to hunt, not of being in this skank-hole of a state.

I just wanted to say hey, I liked your post of your first bow kill ( I presume?) and big congratulations. I will let you know if I get lucky.

    Regards, T.

I shot a bow all the time when I was a kid, for some reason I stopped. Any way a lot of my friends bow hunted, and I realized, hey I hunt and I used to really enjoy archery, so it was done.

I've upgraded my sniper a bit, I ditched the factory sight and now have an HHA single pin. Love it, made a hudge difference and I also went to a drop away rest. I think too many people sell the sniper short, it's a great bow with a couple add ons.

    good luck, Joe

I really like my Sniper. Also my first bow. Changed out the sight for a single pin Cobra and the rest for a Quicktune 360. Shooting Maxima Hunters with Hellrazors. Accurate with both field points and broadheads. I shot a 4'' group a couple of days ago mixing 2 broadheads and 3 fieldpoints at 40 yards. If I don't kill anything this fall it won't be the equipments fault.

Ok i know what draw length is but i have no clue what draw stop is? An i own a sniper my self got it a while back and it seems to want to kick or creep what ever you want to call it i can drill them at 20 but at 30 -50 its all over the target thinkin what your saying mite have to do with it. Like the other day i had to hold it back for a good bit and when i shot i had it a lined up good but i missed the hole targer.
