I learned of this last week and thought I would let the archery community know.

BowTech laid-off (apparently indefinitely) long time employee Pat Dinan or as some of you know him as BowTech_Shooter.

I’ve known Pat for quite a few years and have had many, many e-mail and phone conversations with him. I remember him telling me that before he was hired in 2003 he was on their Pro Staff and I believe he said that he had been since Feb. or March of 2000 so he must have been one of the first since the company was just getting their start. That’s about the time I became acquainted with the company solely as a consumer. I bought a BK2, Gen3, and Might Mite that first year they were in business from my local dealer and relied on Pat’s help tremendously. “Above and Beyond” doesn’t begin to describe the extent to which Pat would go to help a fellow archer.

Over the years I know he’s had a lot of different roles and just recently he told us (Corporate Staff) he had been promoted to their media planning position as well as scheduling the interactive trailer for various events. I’ve seen time and time again where he had come to message boards to help other archers, regardless of what brand bow they were shooting and always in a professional manner. I’ve yet to see anyone ever say anything negative about him whether it was from him answering tech emails or helping on the message boards. Personally, I’ve also had the pleasure of working with him at the ATA Show as well as an ASA shoot although I know he mainly attends IBO shoots.

Anyway, I wanted everyone to know and I thought I would start a thread to inform the community and maybe give people a place to share their thoughts and opinions.

Heck, maybe we should all express our thoughts by emailing BowTech too. :)

As a Corporate Staff member, I sincerely hope BowTech doesn’t have any problems with me posting this. But, Pat is my friend and always we be. He the main reason I’ve remained loyal to BowTech for as long as I have. I have tremendous respect for John and Jerid Strasheim and because of them I remain loyal to BowTech. It just will never feel the same without Pat there.

Well that sure stinks. I'm sure they have their reasons, but maybe there are some underlying issues as alot of folks have complained that their cust svc has gone downhill big time recently, and they also don't have their pro-shop online now. ? Maybe just the economy causing them to tighten up, as most everyone has. Good luck to Pat, I'm sure he'll find a new home pretty quick.

From talking to the Pro Shops around the area, Bowtech would be the LAST company I would look to pick up. I have honestly NEVER heard a compliment on dealing with the actual company. I'm sure all companies can get this rep with their dealers to a degree, but I have honestly never heard a single good word from actual dealers.

I sure hope they don't go down the wrong road looking to maximize profit to an extreme.

I've had the pleasure to meet and talk with Pat at several shows. He's a great guy and was always willing to answer any questions I had.

Very interesting situation to say the least, and I wish him the best.

Honestly, I was hoping for a punchline or April (September?) Fools at the end of this post. I understand it is a business, but letting a guy like Pat go definitely does not make your business stronger. Anytime I had a BowTech and needed some help Pat gave it without question and regardless if it was something he was directly responsible for. This is really a shame.

Pat, if you read this, best of luck and I know that you will bounce back strong. Guys of your character are few and far between and a commodity to any company. As soon as another company recognizes this you will be back in the game. Keep your head up.

Pat was always a pleasure to deal with. I hope he finds something even better.

From what I've heard Bowtech used to be good to deal with but has really gotten disorganized (or something) in the past year. It's too bad. They have some great products.

I met Pat this past year at the ATA show and even though it was just for a brief time he seemed
to be a real nice guy. As for the corporate staff well time will tell for sure.

I've met Pat only one time, at an Illinois Deer Classic. He was very informative, easy to talk to, seemed like a good all around guy. Coming to various sites helping other archers on his own time, what more can be said? I wish the best to him in the future in whatever he pursues.

On another note regarding Tembry's comments about Bowtech, my local pro shop has never had any problems with Bowtech. But I've noticed the company itself has seemed to become very impersonal with customers. Trying to contact them by phone or email has become increasingly difficult. Two recent emails and they have never answered. Not my idea of a good customer relationship.

Seems like things have changed since Savage took over.

More than most people know. The products are still first class, but the customer and pro staff relations have really suffered lately and I'm not afraid to point it out!! :(

It's not the same company it was a year or so ago. I really hope it can straighten itself out.

Not sure what or who you are implying but know that 500fps is Vic, a well known Staffer on AT, rarely seen on HNI and first post ever on BHC. It's not an alias to some of the Staffers you know if that's what your implying.

I've dealt with customer service before with Savage, they were top notch IMO. Not sure why that would change with Bowtech? For what its worth, my shop owner loves Bowtech. His main gripe was with Mathews CS??

That's what I was after. Adds to the credibility of the post. First time poster posting something so obviously political instills some immediate doubt. With me anyway. And I think very highly of pat myself and I hated to read the email he sent.

There is obviously more going on here than what is seen at first glance. Absolutely no reason for anyone to be defensive.

Hopefully pat gets back on his feet soon. I heard from a very reliable source that Lancaster Archery will probably not be carrying bowtech next year.

That's unfortunate, Pat was VERY helpful and kind the little I talked to him. I'm not going to pretend to know the inner workings behind Bowtech. All I know if the corporate staff I'm familiar with are very nice people, and I've always viewed that as a reflection of the company. I've certainly heard good and bad things about the company, but I'm hoping for the best for them.

Pat is a great guy and someone I consider a friend. He has been very good to us both here at well as at HNI, and an instrumental role in our support and use of Bowtech products. I'm very sad to hear he is no longer with the company, and wish him all the best in finding a new position.

This economy is taking it's toll on a lot of businesses, whether we all realize it or not. I would send an email to Bowtech expressing my feelings, but I can't ever seem to get a response out of anyone over there as it is.

In any case, hang in there Pat - everything happens for a reason and you will end up better off in the long run. I'm sure our paths will cross again, and I owe you a beer or two.
