I've always been loyal to Bowtech even though I've heard about their limb failures. Well tonight it happened, bottom limb snapped on my Experience while practicing 3 weeks before the season. Any feedback on the new Hoyt Pro Defiant? I can't go back to Bowtech after this.
I had issues with a cam chewing strings up on my bowtech, they fixed it but it was a major pain in the butt. When im done with my carbon knight i doubt ill go with bowtech again
I highly doubt it. And I'm not sure I would want them to. When you spend this kind of money on a bow, I feel like catastrophic failures shouldn't occur. Probably move on to a new brand.
Feel your pain. Mine failed earlier in the summer and had no clue about their limbs failing up until that point. If mine fails again I'll be making the switch to a different bow for sure. Hope they get fixed up in time for the reason opener man!!
I just don't get how people can still buy bowtechs. This problem has been going on for a decade with bowtech and they haven't fixed it yet.
Hoyt makes a good bow. The only negative thing I have heard about the defiant is related nock travel due to cam timing. Its easily fixed by retarding the appropriate cam to reduce the nock travel though. But I wouldn't settle on a brand just yet. Got shoot a few and see which one feels better to you. Then make a decision. This is something you kinda have to do on your own. Good luck and keep us posted.
On a side note. I know a guy that has an experience that he has accidentally dry fired a few times. Its still kicking so far.
Sorry Barnesdale is not currently building limbs for the BT split limb bows. I bought limbs for my 340 destroyer when they failed. The guy does not advertise them as such but the replacements are 80# limbs. Better than the original.
My buddy's Experience blew apart in his hand a week ago too. Go shoot every bow (except the Bowtech) and see what you like best
I had a carbon knight that did that too. Bowtech sent me a new cam and strings and my shop replaced it free of charge. Shot it for 2 more years without an issue. The string groove on the cam was milled a hair small. I loved that bow. Sold it though to get my BTX-28 and nock on wood, so far no issues.
I had my Bowtech limb delaminate last year right before bow season as well, took it to a local dealer and they fixed it for free. Sucks that Bowtech has this reoccurring problem.
I purchased a Bowtech Experience a few years ago when they first came out and had good luck the first year then just like a lot of other guys I ended up having a limb issue. Mine developed a crack in the upper left limb. As usual these issues always seem to happen a month or two before the season. But I will say Bowtech replaced everything but the riser in a very timely manner. Now I own a prime Centergy and the Experience is my backup bow. As far as the Hoyt goes I know several guys who love them but I would say shoot a few different bows to make sure you get one that fits you the best.
It can happen with any bow brand, but it happens far too often with Bowtech. I would see if you could get the limbs replaced and then part ways with it. I shoot a Hoyt Charger but I'm not really partial to any brand. It sucks that this is happening close to the opener. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Own a bowtech and hunted the last 7 years with one. Bought a new bow this year, shot a few brands flagship bow and my archery shop showed me the "bow of the year" the reign. Told them I'm not interested in cracked limbs and he laughed. Apparently bowtechs limbs were made out of house the last few years causing quality issues, and apparently this yearthey are producing them inhouse(just what I heard). Anyway I have a halon 32 now!
