Are people really that upset about waiting to see a new bow? Who cares when the release is.....if that's your biggest worry or complaint in life you are either very lame or I want your life. Wow!
School, LOL. I've done quite well... Let's see? Does Mathews show little snippets of their bows? No Does Hoyt? No Btw, I don't shoot either. Just saying the way BT is going about dragging their customers along specifically so they don't buy another company's new release is not very good tactics IMHO. (I know, I don't or haven't done marketing for Bowtech, LMAO). Let it be known I think their (BT) bows are the best or close to it. I just feel like they owe it to their customers to be more respectful to them.
After listening to Bowtech_Shooter's explanation, I have no problem with the teasing of the new bow, the anticipation marketing they are doing. In fact, its kinda neat. Hell, it must be working because a lot of people, myself included can't wait for the unveiling of it. As I said, I just hope its not a huge letdown... then I'll be bummed! As I said before, why unveil it to only the dealers? I realize the ATA is the big dance for manufacturers to show off their stuff to the dealers, who in turn order the product. But us buyers are the ones putting money in the manufacturers pocket and in turn, the dealers pocket. I hope at the very least, Bowtech puts the new bow up on the website the same day they unveil it at the ATA. At least then, everyone will be "part" of the unveiling. Or... how bout this Bowtech? Setup a webcast at the show of the unveiling so we can all watch and see! ;-)
Or, they could just do another one of those home-made looking videos. That's an example of their marketing, too, isn't it?
Yes, and as cheesy as it was, it worked. You're still talking about it, so it definitely garnered attention. As far as the "teasing" goes, as others have said that is an old and effective marketing tactic. If CdBurner feels offended or disrespected by that I'm sure Bowtech is OK with that because for every one person like him they know they will gain 5 others. Honestly I don't see the disrespect in creating anticipation. Isn't that the entire point of all marketing/advertising? They want to lure you away from their competitors so you buy their product. If they didn't they wouldn't be in business very long. Mathews uses mass advertising campaigns and celebrity endorsement. Hoyt also uses celebrities and branding (Archers Choice and Bone Collector). If anything Bowtech is fighting an uphill battle in that they don't have major celebrities or branding associated with their product, so they have to use other means to draw attention to their new flagship. If creating a little intrigue with a cover-up and delayed release is their method I really don't see how anyone could begrudge them that. BTW, anyone that knows me also knows I am about as anti-fanboy as they come to any product or manufacturer. That said, I have shot Bowtech, like their products and currently do NOT shoot a Bowtech bow.
LOL, that apparently got your attention too. Imagine if Joanie shot a Bowtech and Chachi shot a Mathews. There never would have been a spin-off.
Sunday, Monday, Happy Days. Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days. Thursday, Friday, Happy Days. The weekend comes...my cycle hums...ready to race to you! These days are alllllllllll, happy and free...those happy days. Man, who could resist that theme song! I know I couldn't.
I got my marketing experience without going to college or any classes of the sort. IMO life is one big marketing campaign of varying degrees, it's everywhere you look... Do any of you remember the Mathews anticipation ad campaign from many years ago of the cam sticking up out of the water? The ads ran BEFORE the ATA Show which was where the bow made it's debut, AT the ATA Show.
Yeah, I remember that ad. It was supposed to look like a shark fin. Wow, we're talking about sharks again. BTW, Jeff, I get your reference, I just don't want to play these reindeer games anymore.
As someone else mentioned, Bowtech_Shooter has been around for a while in this business. The guy knows what he's doing and has my respect. Bowtech is doing what any company has or will do. It's all marketing, whether we like it or not. Hey, could be worse, they could be like Matthews have have 5 page ads in every single hunting magazine we buy.
Have you noticed they don't do that anymore? I'm guessing budget cuts. Or too many people complained about it. lol
Yeah, they just make their customers watch a stop watch every year, it's just well before the ATA show. That's "teasing" your customers if you're asking me.
Wow everyone else seems interested. lol. I think that their ad campaign is a smart one. It sure keeps me counting days. I guarantee that almost everyone upset about this will look for the specs and pictures of this bow the day it is released. I don't see the point in releasing new bows in the middle of the season. I know that I wouldn't buy one then, I will wait till March or April before I buy a new Bowtech. I can't stand how much Mathews or Hoyt is selling some of their bows for such as the Carbon Matrix and Safari. Bowtech has the right idea selling the assassin and heartbreak for much cheaper. Other companies should follow their example. Come to think of it Mathews is doing the same exact thing with the safari. All you see on their site is a picture of the bottom half of the bow. So why don't you guys bash on them? I would honestly be interested in that bow as well if it wasn't $2100. That is stupid. I'm in business management right now and will graduate next year and the idea in marketing is to get peoples attention. I'm not one to buy a new bow, in fact I never have, but since I got the green light to do it I am going to buy the best bow for me. And I believe that it is a Bowtech and I stand behind them completely.
Just like that Deer & Deer hunting magazine I got as part of my subscription which was all mathews front to back.
