Im trying to get a new bow for my birthday have a 2009 bowtech carnivore but it only goes up to sixty pounds. want to get an upgrade.
CHutem both and see what feels best for you. That's the right choice. I will however give Mathews customer service a better grade from everything I hear. Bowtech's is not quite as good. Just my opinion.
i have the Invasion and both Destroyers , shoot all the bows you want and decide for yourself , the one that feels right is all you
The most your going to hear from everyone on here is to shoot one yourself and decide. Personally, I think the Mathews Z7 line shoots much better than the Invasion. Look at the new Heli-m also, I shot that and I decided I'm buying one soon. I think the customer service for Mathews(at least in the shops around here) is better than Bowtech also.
I'm a huge fan of the "Anymore they'll kill with ease" however my search led me to and ended with the Mission line by Matthews. More than enough bow, Matthews technology and customer service and it's nearly half the price!!! My Mission Venture is sick....shot the z7x, switchback, PSE new bows and a bowtech....all great but when I weighed performance, money and CS.....Mission won with not much effort.
I have the Z-7 extreme and really like it, but for the money the mission is a really nice line of bows. About to buy a craze for my wife. Will be a good back up bow. You just have to shoot the bows. The bowtechs seem to be a little rougher on draw and have a little bit more hand shock. Its not bad, but not what I like.
i run a bow shop and il have to agree. Mathews is where id rather put my money. Although i wasn't too impressed with the new helium. they draw stopped the wheel which i like cuz the back wall is solid, but that bow just seems like its wrapped to tight. you can't relax at full draw cuz the valley is really shallow. so i would say that depending on if your a short or longer bow person look into the z7 line. if you can't find it there, there is something wrong.
Sorry to thread jack but whats the downside of Mission vs Mathews. I guess I am wondering why I would ever choose Mathews over Mission? Also do all brands have a sub-brand?
the downside to them is varied. its whatever you don't like about them, whether it be hand shock, not the top of the line, not as fast, doesn't feel like you want, or whatever it is that makes you not like it. And that varies from person to person. some people have to have chevy some people have to have ford. and some bow companys have price point lines example is mathews and mission, bowtech and diamond
Shoot them and see what you like. I'm hearing very great things about the New Breed bows and have not heard one negative about them.
This is really subjective on what you consider a "down side". Mathews is a top-of-the-line bow with no expense spared on technology, materials or manufacturing. Each year the Mathews bows feature the latest innovations whether it be materials, riser/cam design, etc. It's truly the best bow you can buy. The Mission line generally features some technologies that have been around for a few years in Mathews form. They aren't the "best of the best", which is what a lot of people want. However, they are an extremely solid bow and for that price range you'll be hard pressed to find a better bow. As was said, you get Mathews quality and customer service for a fraction of the price. Not all bow companies product more than a single brand of bow. Mathews has Mission and Bowtech has Diamond. In the past Hoyt had Reflex but I believe they discontinued that awhile back.
Payin' the bills.. eh Justin? Mathews makes a great bow. I doubt anyone would dispute that. But I seriously doubt Mathews is spending more than say Hoyt or Bowtech in terms of materials, tech and manufacturing. They're all using the same basic principals for those things. In terms of innovation. I think Mathews at one point, years ago, innovated like no other. However, in the past 10 years or so, its like they produce the same bow year in and year out. It wasn't until recently they finally "jumped ship" a little and produced something other than a single cam bow. I'm not knocking Mathews. They keep doing their thing with the single cams and they certainly have quite a following everywhere you go. I shot a Z7 last year and was extremely impressed with that bow. If it wasn't for the price tag of it as well as any other top shelf bow these days, I'd probably have been tempted to buy that Z7. It was the first Mathews bow that "wowed" me since I believe the Switchback. On the flip side, look at Hoyt and Bowtech. Hoyt came out with the bridged riser, Cam 1/2 designs a long time ago. Something no one else was doing at the time. Then Bowtech started the Binary cam, Center Pivot risers, Invelvet fishes, Hardcore limbs, etc. IMO, those two companies are innovating at a faster rate than Mathews. Are they better? Nope. Just different. To the OP, go shoot as many brands of bows you can find before making a decision. Just because the guys on TV shoot this or that doesn't mean its best for you. Each bow has a different feel and one or three will stick out to you. Don't buy it on the spot either. Come back a couple days later and shoot them again to decide. There are tons of great bows out. Hoyt, Bowtech, Mathews, Elite, PSE, etc. They are will do the job if put in the right hands.
I would shoot both of them (or any bow you are considering for that matter) and see what ones feels best to you... Don't feel like you need to upgrade your bow because it only goes to 60lb. If you want to upgrade great - but that's plenty of 'power' to get things done. I shoot in the mid 50's because of shoulder issues and have taken everything from whitetail, mule deer, elk, etc and it's always been enough for me. Maybe there are other things you want to look at adding to your hunting arsenal this year instead? Laser range finder, new tree stands, new binos, ozone machine, etc....
Really? Not for my $... I can't stand their handle, never had. I went into a shop to actually purchase a Mathews in 2006, shot the supposed best bow they ever made by many, the Switchback up against Hoyt and BowTech... bought a BowTech. And then the Hoyt for a back up and sold it to a buddy. I Was never more disappointed in bow (Mathews) after all the hype surrounding it. I really expected to buy it. And many are really downplaying the new Heli'm, even Mathews fan boys, they are saying the Z7 is so much better... Just because this site is sponsored by Mathews by no means makes it the best money can buy. Just because I'm on staff with BowTech by no means makes BowTech the best money can buy. It's all subject to individuals. To the OP, a Bear may end up being the best bow he can buy. I love ya Justin but that statement really got my attention. I agree, Mathews is ONE of the top of the line bow manufacturers...but the best... not by a long shot for many.
yea i mean lets be honest it all boils down to opinion and justin probably has to say mathews is the best, thats their sponser but IMO bowtechs shoot best, and i eneded up not getting a new bow i got a lone wolf sit and climb II
Went to Lancaster archery this week to buy the Hoyt carbon element rkt. Researched and read the reviews and loved the sweet look of it. Moving from a Mathews reezen 6.5 70# 28". The Hoyt is super quiet, fast and penetrated best out of all bows I tried. It was just tough getting the bow to the back wall. I also shot the heli-m and thought it was super light, but a bit harsh on the way to full draw and felt like it was aggressively waiting to be let off the leash. Right before I was ready to order the Hoyt, the tech had me shoot the z7 magnum and The z7 extreme. I also shot bear, elite and another Hoyt. I could not believe how nice the draw is on the z7s. I ended up with the magnum, but loved both z7s I shot. Good luck findin he right one for you Definitely worth giving them a try.
Just moved to a heli-m and I love it! Yea the demo one I shot had a harsh draw, but for some reason the one the proshop setup for me is great! Idk what the diffrence is but it is. Youd think theyd have the demo smoother cause thats basing on what people will choose off of? But I also have shot a Hoyt, Bowtech, Diamond and the Bear Anarchy. But its hard to beat Mathews. You look at all the shows and pros what not. Mathews has never lost a single pro off there sponsor list. Take for instance Primos going from bear to Mathews. Yes I kno some will say its just a money thing, in which it is. In a way. Its the great customer service and feedback that Mathews has. Yea a "compeditors bow" may shoot smooth and very user freindly. But if you have an issue with it, and you get results from a crappy customer service, what good is that smooth bow? This is just my .02 worth. IMO Mathews has never did me wrong, and Ill always be there. O yea Mission is a good line too.
Go bowtch i bought a invation this yr and have to say its the best bow ive ever had bar none , awsome to shoot and its fast , i know the invation can be purchased with a 80 lb draw u may have to order that , i bought mine it went to 70 lb draw , if u have a short draw length anything under 30 inches go with the 80lb , but definatly the invation
Bowtech!!! Entered the shop with an open mind on my new bow purchase. Shot the Bowtech Invasion....shot the Matthews Heli m...shot the Invasion...Shot the Matthews Heli m...walked out with the Bowtech invasion. Bowtech spends thier money on technology..matthews spends thier money on advertising with out a doubt! The bowtech is a solid killing machine. Super accurate light and easy draw. Im hooked on Bowtech! Shot PSE and Hoyt in the past and what apleasure the Invasion CPX is. Shoot em both with an open mind and not be swayed by The commercialism Matthews pays big bucks for.
