A buddy of mine shoots a 2000-2001 Bowtech Extreme SD. He went to get it out for the year to start shooting a couple weeks ago and found that the limb somehow became cracked on it, he dont know how! He kept it in the closet and asked his wife if she had dropped it or anything and she said no? He dont have a dog or anything?

Anyhow he called around about buying new limbs for something like $250 but then me and my brother informed him that Bowtech should cover it?!? He called Bowtech adn they told him, Hey no problem take it to your local Bowtech dealer and we will get the limbs sent out and replaced.

So after he drives the 50+ miles one way to take the bow in and drop it off Bowtech now does not want to cover it because he dont have the serial number on the bow? The serial number was wrote on the Tag on the limb but has since rubbed off?? They told him to check under the grip and he did but it is not there and told him that since he did not have the serial number they could not help him????

What kind of customer service is this? I dont mean to bash but I read and read about how great Bowtech's customer service is and now all because he dont have the serial number they wont cover it??
My brother is now worried because he shoots a similiar bow the Mighty Mite that the serial number is worn off of and is afraid they will screw him around if anything ever happens to it??

Is there anything he can do?

He is the original owner but he never filled out the warranty card? The bow shop that he bought it from closed up hop quite a few years back so no help there?

I registered my General and I can hardly read the serial number and the bow is new. I was concerned and notified Bowtech in my card that I was unsure if it was correct. Never heard a thing about it. Probably my last Bowtech. Mathews has cooler hats and apparel line anyway.

If you don't fill out the warranty card how can anyone be expected to honor the warranty? For all they know he could have purchased it at a garage sale for $5 with the damaged limb and now he is trying to scam them. That's the whole point of filling out the warranty card. proof of ownership. Even if the serial number could be read from the bow, if he didn't fill out the warranty card Bowtech should not fix it. How can a person complain about bad service when they failed to do something so simple as filling out and sending in the warranty card?

BowTech are not being sticklers on the serial number they told him flat out "you dont have the seral number we cant help you"???

He took it to the shop and the shop owner is the one who brought it to his attention about the serial number, so then thats when he called BowTech to discuss the matter,BUT he is not getting anywhere with them??

I guess this chalks up one bad remark on Bowtechs customer service!!

In my opinion, Bow tech is within their rights to refuse to service this bow for free. As stated above without any record of the bow how can they know where or when this bow was purchased? I would think even from a write off tax standpoint they would have trouble writing this work off as they is no documentation on the bow to prove to the fed's this occurred.

I love how people are immediate to point blame.

Find this information out for me before blaming the manuf.

    1. Whom did your dealer call, Bowtech direct or his rep?

    2. Is the bow's owner the original owner? Keep in mind, people buy bows at yard sales and then try to get free fixes on others mistakes, shouldn't a company draw a line on repairing misuse?

    3. Who is being the stickler about the repair? The dealer, the rep, the company? Could it not be your friend is being fed a line from the dealer? No one wants to loose business and if a dealer isn't making money on limb changes, some don't like to do them, see GMMAT's response as he frequented his dealer, made it work.

    4. There is always more to the story than internet text.

Honestly.. It is not BowTechs fault your buddy did not register his bow when he bought it... How is that their fault? Seriously? The bow has a lifetime warranty to the original owner. That registration proves he is the original owner.

My above comments have nothing to do with my affiliation with the company either. Just common sense IMO.

As for your brother...All of the bows from the past (cant remember how many) years have the serial number engraved on the riser above the grip, right where the rest bolts on.

Buckeye he has the Warranty card just never filled it out. In order to fill it out to cover the "lifetime warranty" he needs the serial number but that is what he does not have!!

Did you check the riser above the grip where the rest bolts on? That is where the SN# would be... Not under the grip.

My brother had to go to work but i know the whole story and can answer any questions about this subject. We have looked all over the bow no numbers anywhere. Bowtech told him the first year or so they didnt put numbers on riser so thats my guess as why we could not find them. I have a mighty mite and have not looked to see if numbers are on mine. Man i hope so beacause the ones on the limb sticker are wore off and i dont wont to go through this crap if i ever need some help with mine! I have been one of the biggest Pro Bow Tech guy's out there but this is starting to leave a bad taste in mouth. In my opinion if you warrenty something for life with your name all over it should not matter about a card or a number! Just my opinion.

Im not saying that he didnt screw up by not filling out the card. But he is the original owner. I also know that when i repair someones car at my garage and they come back six or seven years later to have something fixed that i did i fix it NO questions asked. Beacause i did the work and my name is on that work. Im not trying to get riled up over this but im looking at it. As this was a company that i really like and has always talked about how GREAT i thought they were and how i would not ever buy anything else and to me this is a slap in the face.

As far as the car thing goes if i knew i did the work on the car no matter who owned it yes i would fix it and i have done this several times.
Now the bow thing on the other hand i understand what you are saying i really do, but the reason we put this on here was not to try and bash a company that we all like but to try and get some help on this situation and all that we have got was reasons why we cant do squat. And that may be the case but we would really like to get some input on what you guys think we should do now. Thanks

What I think you should do is write a check and order the limbs you need.

That's fair but i am not the one who posted this. Im just trying to get some answers for a friend. He does not have the money to spend on new limbs or im sure he would just say the heck with it and go that route he already checked prices and thats when he called me and asked what he should do he didnt even realize that the limbs were covered under the warranty until i told him.

Just a what if: KNowing that i have a Mighty Mite and a warranty and have regeristed it if i find one at a yard sale that is busted up for 50 bucks and keep in mind no numbers on either bow now can i get it fixed?

I am willing to bet your MightMite has a SN# on it. What year is your bow?

    I owned a 2003 and 2004 MightyMite. Both had a SN# on the riser.

Sorry but in my opinion Bowtech owes your brother nothing. I wouldn't expect a company to replace ANYTHING on my bow if I failed to fill out and send in my Warranty card. If it had been done when new, the serial number would have been legible and all would be good with the world.
