My local archery store suggested some stuff called "scorpion venom" polymeric bowstring fluid and "Cam and serving lube" ... so of course I purchased it :) (10$ each)

Never used anything but the ol' push-up stick of wax before, so i decided to google around and see if there is a special way to apply this stuff, since there are no instructions with the new lubes, only a vague warning that says "apply anywhere to the string that is free from moving parts" which suggests to me that its simple...but i think things through and want to make sure i dont screw it up (Just bought a brand new PSE Bow Madness xs...dont wanna screw it up)

So my question is, can anyone give me some guidance on how to properly use these 2 new lubes, and also, should i still be using the bow wax in conjunction?

My apologies ahead of time if these are really dumb questions....:o

Honestly not a jab....have you contacted the manufacturer of Scorpion Venom? I was thinking of getting some of it to. Maybe you can post what they tell you is the proper method.

Yes :) I did try calling them before i posted here actually. I still have not heard anything back.

I sent an email this morning, so hopefully they'll respond to that.

For me, my biggest misunderstanding is the in what qualifies as an "unqualified" string to apply the wax to, since it says "do not apply to any string that comes into contact with the bow" ...call me stupid :bash: but they all contact the bow.

Plus since im not an expert on compound bows ( i can shoot and hunt with them, i just dont know much outside of that) some of the terminology escapes me.

A picture by picture explanation of how to PROPERLY do it for both of their lubricants would be phenomenal

I just bought some of this and the only places i was told not to apply it was where it hits the cams or idler wheels and where the serving is. Use the cam and serving lube in these two places other than that use it in the normal places.

Going to get some regular string wax as soon as possible since you cant use the string fluid on the areas where the string touches the cam or wheel or serving. So im going to something that is 1/5 the price and can be used everywhere!!! And if you dont use some other wax every where you cant use this the string starts showing wear fast.

Stay away from the fluid, the wax works much better. Try the bowstring wax by Bohning, i use it and shoot my bow 40-50 times a week and had the same string for 2 and a half years

If you have problems with the string beginning to fray a little try warming the stick of wax a little and work it in with your fingers, because I know the PSE factory strings fray easy, i have an 08 PSE stinger and it started to fray within a year but i began doing this to the string and it has stopped fraying....just a suggestion..

Thanks for posting this up. I have considered scorpion venom on numerous occasions but the shop is always out.

I was told by an old time bow hunter, shoots trad and compound, that plain chap stick is all he uses and has used it for years. I asked if he was serious and he is sticking to his story. Had another guy say he used chap stick as well. What are your thoughts on the chap stick? I guess it could work.

I don't know about the chapstick stuff. Can't say it would hurt either. Heck, the Bowstring Wax, we buy for 5-10 dollars a stick at the bow shops could be nothing more than glorified chapstick! Kinda like fletching glues. ;-)

I've tried about every kind of string lubricant out there, from the old Tex-Tite stuff, to graphite based ones to Dalton's Speed Wax... I think String Snot from .30-06 Outdoors is the best stuff I've ever layed on my string.

I used to use Bohning wax, but I've been using the Scorpion Venom liquid for some time now. It was suggested to me by another shooter, so I gave it a try. So far, it has been doing the job. I can't say that it's doing any better or worse than the wax.
