I was having a conversation with my father today and got on the subject of if compound bows or any bow and arrow tech is used or has ever been used in the military? I imagine they were for some reason but does anybody here have experience with that?

Too much risk with missing a critical shot that may give away your location if the whole point of the op is supposed to be stealth. It would just turn into a firefight anyway. It is not superior to a weapon our enemies would be currently possessing defeating the purpose of our current military presence.

My bow tech carried a take down recurve in Vietnam but it may have just been for chits and giggles but then again he is a Marine.. and more than half crazy.

A few 101st airborne guys had them in Balad Iraq in 2003, to shoot all the wild dogs. Had them sent from home.
