What do ya'll wipe down your bow with after being out in the rain or snow? I dont want the hardware to rust or the finish to get messed up so I'm wondering what to use to protect the bow. Its gonna be a wet one down here this weekend and I actually care about this bow.:tu: My past bows i just wiped with a towel and didnt worry about it but they all have rusty hardware now.

I put two Bullfrog Rust Inhibitor sponges in my bowcase. Use it in my tackle boxes too. They're cheap, work great and last for a year.

I do wipe down my bow before I put it away too.

A little wax on the hardware will prevent rust but honestly, the only bow I didn't have with rusty hardware was one I completely disassembled and had all the metal parts Teflon coated with Black T from Birdsong.

My Bowfishing bow I replaced every bolt with a stainless steel counterpart, that did the trick for it since it would be on a lake or the ocean whenever in use.

My hunting bow, I do nothing. A little surface rust on the head of the bolts does no damage, and it isn't worth the headache to prevent it. My bow performs the same either way.

I was a gunsmith at the time and just put them in with parts from another gun so it was actually free.

i've heard of guys using a little mineral oil to combat the rust. i just shake it a few times and put it away. when i take it in once a year to give er' the once over, the bow shop breaks it all down for me. not cheap but i trust em', and thats something you dont come by every day.

Pour some vegetable oil in a bowl and take a couple Q-tips and wipe all your bolts down with the q tips after you dip them in the oil. This will protect it for multiple outings in the heaviest rain. Reapply after a few hunts in those conditions or every month or so. Only takes about 10 minutes and will prevent any rust.

Dead-Down-Wind has an odorless oil. Works for me and it's like $5 or $6. Same size bottle as their mouth spray... so be careful :tu:

Its really hard to stop rust from forming I don't really worry that much about some surface rust. I will sometime take it out of my case and let it air dry.

I take a magic market and cover a lot of the screw/allen heads on my bows.

It's helped keep them from rusting. Every now and again, I wipe them down really well, and re-apply the magic marker. Doesn't hold that smell for that long, either.

It would be Nice to see a bow company do that on their flagship hunting bow. :)

Rust is why my Suppressors are made from 7075 Aluminum & a Brass nut ;)
