If you are comfortable and accurate with a bow, it is 100% worth it!

Are the places you going to even able to hold habitat for turkeys? Can't find them if they aren't there.

personally I would take my bow over the gun any day, but it is completely up to you. I'd go with what you are most comfortable with. Either way im sure you will have a blast.

I would say it depends on how many turkey you have killed with a shotgun. Turkey hunting is a lot of fun, but I have killed several with both shotgun and bow. This year I haven't packed my shotgun on a single hunt, but I have had my bow in hand. Yesterday I had two different birds work into range but couldn't get a shot. With a shotgun they would have been dead, but with a bow I couldn't close the deal. If I was new to the sport and hadn't ever killed a turkey I would say get a few under your belt and then go for the bow. If you have been successful and already enjoy the sport, you will love the extra challenge of using archery equipment. I video all my hunts so even though I don't have a bird in hand I did get some good video footage. That makes it that much more challenging.

who needs a shotgun or a bow. IMO if you aren't wearing a ghillie suit and laying in the middle of the field to grab them by the feet when they walk by you're cheating!!!

I like to use what I call the "Chuck Norris" look. It'll make the two biggest toms run over to me and spar it out to the death. The winner then presents his trophy to me. Saves on broad heads.

I have a blast either way. Sure bow hunting is more challenging, but I would take either over a day at work anyday!!!

You laugh but you don't even need a ghille suit here in new zealand, just stalk them and then tackle them

Is that a serious statement? Go shoot a paper target with a shotgun (turkey load) then shoot a different paper with a bow... compare the number of holes in the paper... "why is shooting a gun different than a bow"... LOL

No one has mentioned this ,but it also depends on what you want out of your hunt.
You can set up in a blind and wait for them to come within bow range and shoot them I guess.
But me myself ,I do not like to Deer Hunt turkeys.
Turkey hunting is all about working and calling in the bird .
Sometimes that requires repositioning on the bird.
Not easy to do if you're hunting out of the blind.
In the south the only way you will kill a turkey is if you're in a blind.
You can barely move with a shotgun much less pull a bow back to shoot the turkey without spooking him.

With all that being said if your turkeys are plentiful and you don't mind hunting out of a blind and you are shooting good with your bow go for it. Where I live we have seen a decrease in turkeys and killing one with a shotgun is getting harder and harder.

Don't get me wrong I love bow hunting , just not for turkeys.

    Best of luck.
