Hello all, I use to hunt with my Grandfather before he passed almost 10 years ago. We would shotgun hunt whitetail and I always loved going out and learning from him. Well put me ten years from there I have lost most of what I learned, and due to years of University training haven't even seen the light of day at times. Bottom line I want to get back in the hunting game, but I really want to start bow hunting. I went to the library got several books on bowhunting and they gave me some pretty good tips. Now I am scouting out some local archery shops doing some pricing and the like. I will need to save up for a rig, but I would rather invest the money upfront than buy something cheap that breaks and finds me back in the pro shop laying down more money. So far I am pretty interested in Mathews Bows, they are a little more pricey than I like, but they feel pretty good to me. Hoyt had slightly better prices, had good reviews, but some just didn't feel right. So I am up for suggestions. Let me know about your opinion on bows and accessories, but please don't just tell me the bow tell me why you like the bow and what I should look for. Thanks a lot!
You should get out and shoot as many bows as you can. I myself only shoot hoyt. I bought the crx32 and I love it. Its light smooth drawing forgiving anf very fast. If I didn't shoot hoyt I would either go to bowtec or bear I like them also. I can't say much about a matthews I have never shoot one and only picked one up in 12 years of bow hunting. Bottom line is find something that fits you like a glove and you will do good all you have to do is put in the time at the range and you will be dead on. Good luck
Yep bows are like a great pair of shoes, What feels great to you might not fit me so shoot as many as possible and see what you like..

Welcome to the site! Shoot as many bows as you can, and get what feels right to you. I ended up with a Mathews Drenailin, because that's what felt the best to me. Nearly all bows out there are good bows.
I agree with everyone else shoot as many bows as you can. Let the bow pick you, and really there is no such thing as a bad bow anymore. Just make sure you buy one that is big enough for you. I myself am shooting a PSE Bow Madness set at 28 inches and 74 pounds. This bow has a very smooth draw, very little if any vibration on the shot, and has a very very solid back wall. Though it can be touchy when letting back down because 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the back wall it will slam your hand forward if you dont watch. These bows are also very fast as are most bows today. Like Hoytultrasport only shoots Hoyt bows i only shoot PSE, But thats mostly personal preference. Get the bow you like the best and you wont be dissaponted.
welcome, yes get a feel for many pieces of equipment. You want what feels right for you not someone else!
