Does anyone bow hunt from a tri-pod stand? I am looking at an API 16' tri-pod and would love to get everyones thoughts/opinions on whether tri-pods with shooting rails work for bowhunting. Thanks in advance!

I dont have any experience but, I would think if there is any way to get up in it with your bow and try it out, I would before I bought one. Personally I hate anything with a rail. I do shoot an older longer compound though.

You would be way to exposed using a tripod IMO

I'm thinking about getting one for next year. They have the camo blinds that can go all the way around and then open up in the front for bowhunters.

I have, and it worked well.

It was adjacent to a powerline going thru the property and literally tucked into the younger trees on the edge, youd never see it unless ya knew it was there.

I have one, but I only rifle and pistol hunt from it. I built a rail around it and made a blind around it. I tried to bowhunt out of it, but they always bust me when I try to stand up and draw. Its now dedicated just to boomsticks

I hunted out of a tripod and had a couple nice does come within 5 feet from the base of it. my only problem was that there was a bar around the seat so i could have to stand up to shoot

The one i'm looking at the bar folds back over and doesn't have to be in use.

youd have to sit very still but i think it could work along a tree line, not sure about an open field however

I have one that a lot of deer have been killed from. It has the camo skirt around it. Shooting with a bow isn't a problem, rails for the skirt are about waist high. It's tucked in a thick hedge with no tree for a hang on or to climb. You'd have to run into it to find it if you didn't know it was there.
