For years I have envisioned myself bowhunting deer from a canoe or kayak. How cool would that be to kill a deer/whatever after sneaking up on it with a kayak? I have several spots where I would like to slip into my kayak, back up into a bush with some cover on the lake, and then wait for the deer to feed on the edges of the lake. That would be awesome! Currently, we are not allowed to deer hunt from canoes/kayaks here in Virginia. I do not understand the reasoning behind not allowing bowhunting in that manner. Do any of you guys feel like bowhunting from a canoe or kayak would be sweet?

I can' tell you how awesome I would feel if I snuck up on some deer feeding by the water, then sent an arrow through one of them as they ate.

Neat idea. I know of people who use them to get to their spots but they dont hunt out of them. Drawing back would be a ***** in a kayak though, wouldnt it?

I would just reduce my draw weight and practice from inside the kayak. I could make it happen! I bet I could kill a deer the first week of hunting season if I hunted the edges of lakes. I see deer all over them when the pressure is light.

It's let you know real quick-like if you were overbowed.. :)

Same here about using one to ACCESS some spots... I actually WANT to find an area that you can ONLY get to by boat; I figure it'll reduce the pressure tremendously.

Was looking at chest waders for that very purpose a couple days ago. :D

Better question: How cool would it be to shoot a deer from your kayak WHILE it's floating down the stream. Kind of like strafing, you dig?

There are places on the north end of Cedar Creek Lake, real close to home, that are over run with feral hogs. Boat access is the only way in without trespassing. I have seriously considered going in with my canoe or kayak. I am also planning on using the canoe to access some public A.C.O.E land near my lease. To hunt there water access is the only way in.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I love fishing and bowhunting...so why not merge both?
