Internet is down at home, so here's today's reading. We will finish Ecclesiastes today. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
Today's Reading is 2 Samuel 7 - 9 and Song Of Solomon 1 - 2. I am still trying to find some questions. If you have any relating to the reading, feel free to chime in.
two things really stick out here, 1. Davids love for his son. Absalom is trying to take the kingdom, The Kingdom that God had given to David, (1st Samuel 16) David had the military skill to wipe Absalom off the earth, yet his love for God dictates his love for his son. He won't raise a hand against him. 2. Davids deep trust in God Sovereignty. He Understood God had placed him as King over Israel and God and only God could remove him. In his flight from jerusalem he states, If I have found favor in the lords eyes. He is leaning into God's will accepting it without condition! That should be a huge life lesson for us all! we often will lean into the will of God for our lives as long as it is to our benefit. The real truth of faith shines when we press into his will even when it looks like it will cost us dearly! That's where David finds himself, trusting the God he has followed his whole life, leaning in and accepting God's plan even when it looks like he will lose his kingdom, family, and life!
Yesterday's Reading is 2 Samuel 16 - 17 and Matthew 1. Sorry for not posting yesterday. I've been super busy at work getting ready for a plant shutdown and our computer system upgrades.
Once again, I forgot to post a reading. So today, there'll be two. Yesterday's Reading was 2 Samuel 18 - -19 and Matthew 2 - 3. Today's reading is 2 Samuel 20 - 21 and Matthew 4. I find it interesting that God sent Satan to tempt both Job and Jesus. Have a blessed day!
I love the temptation of Christ as another way for the biblical authors to show comparison between the first Adam and the second. Adam was tempted in the wilderness by the serpent, but was given to temptation and sinned. Christ, being the true Adam, was also tempted in the wilderness by the serpent but was able to resist. The idea of Christ being the true Adam is a huge theme in redemptive history.
Yesterday's reading is 1 Kings 2- 3 and Matthew 8 -9 and tomorrow reading (I will be on the mountain scouting) is 1 Kings 4 - 6 and Matthew 10 - 11. Today's verse of the day is That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Matt 6:25
Today's Reading is 1 Kings 8 and Matthew 13. We are now 159 days into the Bible. Keep up the good work and feel free to post any thoughts, questions, or observations from your readings.
