The #1 Water Cooler topic. Good ol' Brett Favre :D

Two things we know for sure:

    I love him

    Jeff hates him

So, besides us two, whats the general opinion on Brett Favre, now that he has had a career year and led Minnesota to a playoff victory?

I like the guy as a player, he's one hell of a quarterback. No one is going to argue that topic.

I think I'm on the same page with many other users when I say he is a drama queen. If you want to retire, ok, you've had a great career. If you're going to keep playing, ok, but don't keep telling us you're done.

He's proven he can still play at and beyond the level of his competition. I see no reason for him to NEED to retire for a few more seasons. We have learned what makes Brett Favre tick though, and that's attention. I expect another long drawn out, will he stay or will he go campaign, UNLESS he wins the super bowl. Which as bad as I hate to say it, it's a strong possibility.

    Only time will tell!

For now, since my Steelers didn't make it, GO JETS!

I wouldn't mind seeing the true best quarterback in the game win his first Super Bowl though.

I don't see any drama In the least. Who cares If he can't decide whether to retire or not?? Why or how Is that considered drama? Damn, did MJ get that same treatment from everyone? I think not. What about a few of the hockey legends that have unretired a time or 2 to play again? You don't hear people knocking them guys. Favre's a competitor just like anyone else who pulls out of retirement, you can't knock them or him for It IMO. Like Sevenmag said, the media makes It allot bigger then It really Is. It's not like he's pulling a TO and being a big mouth causing problems where ever he goes. I really like the fire In the guys blood, It's pretty awesome If you ask me. When he was with the Jets last year I was cheering him on there too.

People can call him a Drama Queen but he holds NFL records for the most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most consecutive starts, and most career victories as a starting quarterback.

He is one guy you could depend on any given Sunday as long as he was on the roster;) Drama or not he has earned every damn paycheck he received, period.

Mark McGwire could show up every day.....work harder than anyone else.....lead the team in HR's; public service appearances and charitable contributions.

And, at the end of the day....he's still a "juicer".

Nobody (I know of) questions Favre's football prowess. I think not all of us are ready to enshrine him as the greatest ever (with legitimate cause). But he's been and is currently a heckuva player.

And, at the end of the day....he's still a drama queen.

If Brett Favre (off the field) was more like Steve Young......hell I'd probably be one of his most staunch supporters. He's more like StevIE Nicks. Just because I don't sift my coffee grounds each morning through a Brett Favre officially game-worn jock......doesn't mean I don't recognize he's a HOF quarterback. He is.

But....there's no crying in football. And, there's certainly no room for it on a regular basis.

For some of us guys with a few candles on our cakes......this "old man" stuff isn't that novel. Do a google search on George Blanda. The beauty is.......I never saw Blanda sobbing on national TV. Not even ONCE!....lol

Why does everyone bring up a MJ analogy when this subject comes up? Does anyone else see a difference between Favre and MJ?

As far as Brettypoo..... I respect him for what he does as a player and especially his durability and his competitiveness. However, off the field is a different story. I'd like to slap the sniveling little emotional roller coaster baby upside the head. I cant' stand listening to interviews and press conferences with him. Makes me think I'm watching as the world turns or something.

61 threads about him.....but how many did you start there Siman?

Personally, I love what he does on the field. He's a great player and what he's doing at 40 is just unbelievable. He's a winner and, obviously, loves playing the game. On the other hand, his off the field tactics really, really turn me away from being a true fan. Two weeks after he says on national television that he unequivocally knew he would never come back, he comes back.

He's a great player but a prima donna to the core.

I like him, I'll root for him to do well.
Could care less what happens off the field and how much attention the media gives him. (or how much he tries to get it from them)

The guy could wear a damn skirt off the field and I wouldn't like him any less. The man has had his butt kicked for years and keeps showing up to play the game. Seeing him cry shows me that he loves the game and doesn't want to go out playing like crap. I hope he plays a few more seasons if his body and game hold up. He has been an exciting man to watch all these years, drama included;)

    Whats not to love. Seriously?

For every 1 team mate who disliked him.. 2 others loved him.

He makes lots of money for throwing a football.. and he unlike many 'stars' shows up all the time.

He's never 'boring' to watch play.

When he was in college.. the coaches would bet him money to see how far and what he could hit in the seats of the stadiums he played at.

When his wife had breast cancer.. he made sure to make the NFL aware of that fact. He even shaved his head so she wouldn't be alone in the fight.

He was 1 of the biggest supporters after Catrina hit the south a few years back. And New Orleans loves him for that. Just wait til he visits this weekend. Lotta support for the hometown kid down there.

So what.. drama that was caused when 2 sides didn't speak clear enough for each other.

The dude wasn't ready to quit. It was clear that Greenbay management wanted him to do so. Big deal.. he came back.

He still plays hard.. he still generals... he still throws blocks.

In a new league of time managers afraid to throw.. afraid to be the goat this week.. afraid of failure... can you think of a QB more fun to watch?

I.. for the life of me... cannot.

I love the guy. Growing up in the 70's-80's as a Packer fan I saw ALOT of loses. He came and brought ALOT of wins. He is my favorite player of alltime. I just can't cheer for him wearing purple and hope the Saints knock him on his ass.
