Any of you folks belong to a bowhunters club?? I'm on a waiting list for a club close to here, Ojibwa Bowhunters, its a great place, good people and close to home. My son is already a Junior member, I'll be a member in January. They take kids in right away for $5.00 a year. Theres a 100 members and I'm 9 on the waiting list!

How bout you guys and gals, do you belong to one?

not yet, but i've considered joining a local one... there's a couple that are reasonably close to me, Kenosha Bowmen and BigFoot Archers are close by and with my two boys getting into it pretty big i'm tempted to join one with a family membership... we'll see...

edit - its illegal to shoot in our backyard even if we did have the space... there is a local free range that we go to, but they have hay bales that need to be replaced big time, I have a hard time shooting there right now cuz i blow thru the bales everytime I shoot and end up having to refletch half my arrows...

Yep. I'm a member of the Sportsmans Club of Clifton Park. They have an indoor 16 lane archery specific building, and hold indoor paper leagues in the winter. They also have a 14 target field archery course, and hold multiple 3D events outdoors all summer. In addition to the archery portion of the club, they have 100, 200, 300 yard rifle ranges, an indoor heated pistol range, and a trap range. 68 acres in total, and they have 600+ members last meeting I attended. It's about 10 miles from my house, and a great deal in my opinion for the $70 a year I pay for membership. I have made a lot of good friends there over the years.

i would be but it is way to expensive in my eyes. 175 dollars a year....and it really is not that impressive of a club. Maybe when i go off for collage there will be a better one up there..

I thought of joining one once.. but then I remembered how much patience I have for 3-D shooters.

Elitist SOB's... sure they can hit the 12 ring on a fake 125" whitetail at a club.. too bad most can't find one in real life.

    Ohhhhh.. sick burn....:)

No, but I work @ a pro shop, does that count?

We had a club until last year. We had too much bickering, nobody wanted to do anything.......you know, all fun and no work. So, we disolved it. Tragic.

Sev, I've never been to either of those places but I hear great things about both! I missed the shoot at Big Foot because of work, bummed, not sure if anything is coming up before the season. My son really loves going to the club, I do to. Ojibwa has a campsite on the grounds, if you take care of a station you get a free site, pretty cool! They also do a rabbit hunt and raffle off a deer hunt on the grounds for a few members each year!
We do the same at the local park, free, but the bales are beat up pretty good and I'm sick of calling and bitching to the parks about it! I made my own bag from burlap, bubble wrap and plastic grocery bags, works great and my arrows don't get beat.

Don't belong to one. There is one about 30 miles away but I just don't have the time for it.

I'm in a club but I'm not sure it's the same you're talkin about. I'm in archery club here at school and we have meetings about once a month, hold a shoot in the spring, and have league shooting once a week. It's a great way to meet fellow outdoorsmen and just have fun. Just about everyone here at school is from a suburb of Chicago so it's nice to go to the meetings and get my little dose of the country that I'm used to lol.

Mid-Thumb Bowmen-The only hunts they have is a Team Rabbit hunting contest on the property.Very Nice Indoor and Outdoor Range. They hold IBO Shoots and 3D Shots open to the public.

That sounds a lot like the guys that belong to the one around here. They would rather talk about their brand new $900 bow, $200 site, etc. And of course that wouldn't actually be the bow they hunt with, just the one they shoot 3d with! Hey, if you have the money, more power to ya, but it gets pretty obnoxious after a while.

I have looked at Kenosha Bowman and it is a pretty nice club. I like the fact that you get a key to the gate and club so you can shoot 24x7 if you would like. Not to mention that they have onsite camping. And if you put in an extra 8 hours you can store trailers onsite year round. Nice for storing the snowmobile trailer during the summer. Think I will be joining in the spring.

Brandon where abouts are you from?
