Thats the only problem I have with my brother hunting with me. I am way more serious about hunting than he is. I shoot a lot to make sure I am in good shape as far as form wise and accuracey. I also scout often. I do live on my property and I know it is an hour drive for him but, he hasn't been here to do anything hunting wise since March 7th. I have told him he has to buy a couple more stands for this season and nothing yet. He says he is going to but, I'm not sure he will. I don't mind him hunting here but, I would really like some help with buying stands, setting them, cutting shooting lanes and entry/exit trails. If nothing else at least buy a couple stands and some of the minerals or seed. He is my brother though so until I get way to fed up with it, I will be over looking it. I do tell him about this stuff though so if it does come to that, its not like he wont see it coming. Anyways, sory for the little rat there but, I know what you mean about finding someone that you are a good team with.
I hunt alone 99% of the time and only one person knows where I'm hunting. He gets a text everytime I go in, climb up, climb down and walk out.
Well said. I prefer to hunt alone. Hunting public land always makes for an interesting hunt. I enjoy the challange of out hunting other hunters. Some times that means better scouting, putting in more time in the stand, or braveing the elements while others are at home. My true focus, however, is to make the best out of every hunt. I have been very blessed since my return to bowhunting. As mentioned above, I prefer to hunt alone.
I'm a loner, much rather have It that way. Hopefully this changes though and that my daughter takes Interest In what I do and joins me In the woods.
I usually hunt alone. My dad and my cousin also hunt, (my dad only during gun season) but we keep to different areas of the property. I will be taking my 8 year old daughter out this year, and also my 9 year old nephew. His dad does not like the outdoors, and my nephew loves it. He was out with my cousin and me hanging tree stands and had a good time. I will sacrifice some of my relaxation/quiet solitude to introduce a newbie to the sport. Quiet is one of the reasons I hunt (and why I run as well). One of my running friends once told me "in order to deal with stress I need to either run (or hunt) or drink whiskey... and I can't afford that much whiskey."
I hunt Alone 99% of the time. I do enjoy the company but, being 4 miles in with nothing by your own mind has a very cleansing effect. All problems dissolve away and I can become completely immersed in the hunt. This year the girlfriend has taken up gun hunting, though. First time I'll be marching with the orange army in about 4 years..
I hunt my local area (within :30) alone. It is a 10 acre marsh/swamp with a few trees that my ol' man knows where to look if I am not heard from. If I am hunting out of state or doing a longer hunt on public land within the state then I hunt with my neighbor. Great company and a serious hunter. Once we hit the woods we make a call to each other on the 2-ways that we made it to our tree and are safety-harnessed in. The next time we talk to each other is if one of of has a deer down or we are getting down to head out, scout, etc... My wife might join me on a gun hunt this year. I told her the best one would be the WI October antlerless hunt (CWD zones) as it will be fairly warm.
I hunt alone. I have my cell linked to my wife and family so if I don't check in they can see my phone coordinates and locate me
I always hunt alone unless the chance of someone wanting to film me or me film them but thats always on the ground and we never have much luck that way.
I Hunt Alone Most Of The Time. Just Like The Peace And Quiet Just The Sound Of Of The Mountains And The Bugle Of A Bull Elk.
It's hard to hunt on other peoples schedules sometimes. I just got a lease with four other guys so now I have four new bow hunters to get to know and see if we want to hunt together. It's working out well.
