Howdy, New to the forum. Question. Are there any persistent bowhunters in here from Michigan that delight in the challenge of hunting public land bucks? I am from Lapeer County and the 2009 season will be my third season patterning two mature bucks I know exist on state land without ever seeing them. Most would think I am nuts but I won't give up. Anyone of you determined to the bone like me?
Hi Shawn welconme to the site!!!! I live and have hunted in Michigan for over 33 years on state land in Mason county. I have had some great success. I shot this buck back in 2004. Good luck with your 2 bucks you have been targeting nothing like going after a piticular buck.. Walt
Shawn, great meeting you at the Michigan show and welcome to BH.com! Good luck whacking a giant this fall!
Shawn, best of luck in your pursuit of those two bucks, there is nothing IMO as exciting and as fullfiling as targeting and killing a particular buck.
I'm from Michigan - but now live in Iowa. I love Michigan in the summer - but other than that - I like Iowa just a little more!
I;m from Royal Oak but live in Boston, MA now. I am sure to come back once a year at minimum for a nice long bow hunt...one of my highlights every year whether i get a shot or not.
Shawn, I went to HS in Lapeer (East) back in the 90s. Some really nice bucks in that area. I now live and hunt in the Grand Rapids area. I've hunted public land in Lake and Alcona Counties, but I mostly hunt private. Taking a nice buck on public land in the LP is definitely a challenge. Good luck and hope you get one of those two you are hunting. NICE BUCK, Walt!
