First off let me say that it is my favorite show out there. Quality is awesome and sans Justin's hunts, the shots on camera are great! :bash:

Now after watching the last episode, there were some things that kinda reeked like cheese ;) ... the statement from Todd where he says, "that is why I use Killzones!" was kinda cheesy....that shot was perfect .... a fieldpoint would have killed him with that shot.

I understand the corporate sponsorship thing...I really do, but the shameless boasting of products over and over remind me of all the other shows out there .... and you guys are way better than that....

We want to know what was used .... but seeing it all touted as another broadhead or bow or whatever wouldn't have put you behind that buck is kinda insulting to the viewers intelligence...

    Again, awesome show!

    Please don't ban me :D

Paying the bills is one thing...but I too felt the Killzone "love" was over the top. :D However I chalk the first stuff up to the heat of the moment, as Todd was obviously pumped, excited and going crazy....doubt he knew he even said Killzone let alone kissed his bow's cam. :D

Yeah, it's tough. Sponsors pay for the shows, but no one wants to watch a commercial either.... It take the "cool" out of it. It's why I don't like certian hunting channels. It's one big infomercial. I get it. Just the way it is.

I really like the show. Not a slam at all. WAY less like a commercial than most of the hunting shows out there.

Not speaking for him obviously, but I thought he was referring to the fact the buck went such a short distance after the shot. No need to blood trail!

I am not on bh.coms prostaff any more, and what Todd experienced is why I have and still do shoot the 2 blade bloodrunners.

    Gotta pay the bills...

But a field-point from a wooden crossbow woulda killed that deer ;)

Do you think with the awesome shot he made, that buck would not have fallen over with any other broadhead? I am betting it would...

The reason for this post was I love the show and while understanding sponsors have to be represented, other shows go way overboard, IMO ... and I would hate to see Bowhunt or Die follow in their footsteps.

If you don't see me again, it was fun guys and gals

I am certain it would have. However, I am not certain he would have only gone 30 or what ever yards before falling over. I had heart shot deer go 100 yards. I am all for short blood trails.

I'm sure Todd was wrapped up in the moment, and it's not like he kept mentioning the Killzone and telling you to buy it.

Tony: it's funny because I said the same thing when I saw that shot. I don't remember the exact words but I think it was...that's why I shoot killzones and he also referred to Mathews and the carbon arrows. BUT I think were all a little guilty of promoting what works best for us and that's what works for him. When I walk over to a deer shot with rage 2 blades I say the same thing. Damn look at the damage that head did.....that's why I shoot rage broadheads. So although I thought the same thing I understand why Todd said what he said. Especially in the heat of the moment. If I put down a monster like that guess what I'll kiss my bow and praise my broadhead for doing its job. Mathews, Hoyt, pse, Parker....it doesn't matter. Killzone, rage, swackers, muzzy....it doesn't matter. Practice with your set up and make a good clean shot. That's all that matters. I think we all agree placement is the most important thing. I do agree a faster, lighter bow helps. I also agree that each BH has it's own advantages. Bottom line is he's is confident in his gear and he will promote it just like anyone else. I guess since he is sponsored it seems a little like all the other guys we see. I'm sure if he was unhappy with his gear he wouldn't be kissing his bow lol.

The episode was named "the killzone"! lol I'm with ya Tony. The part 7:30 into it seemed a little phony.

While i agree spot on with what you said,i guess sometimes we just get caught in the moment.I'm sure most hunters believe they have a perfect setup and to each his own right?

I still think Todd explaining to aim low in case a deer ducks the shot is a great new dance move...hope it catches on!

well at least Todd didn't have his buck all covered up in product for the pics on the video. I agree with much of what you said about over doing it with promo's. Hopefully it never come down to it. the products BH.com staff use in the field are supporting the site and bussiness, and I think they do a fine job promoting those products in use. from the lost camo to the Broadheads at the end of the carbon arrows. We get to experiance the effectiveness of those products. The majority of hunting shows out there today do over do it with the promos. I watched "The Russ" this morning and I got a chuckel from all the products they have on the ground around this poor buck that they shot. No way am I going to believe that this lucky fellow used any or all of this product to kill this buck on the ground before him. what I do believe is that His arrow and bow killed to buck.

The TV shows are turning there tropheys into Christmas trees at the end of the hunt. Silly to us, but necessary to keep sponsors happy.

All this coming from the guy who just recently shot a deer in the vitals that went what was it - 6-700 yards..... :-)

I've never filmed but I would imagine commentary is tough... I remember watching football games called by John Madden - used to always get a chuckle out of some of his comments - he said some crazy stuff periodically that I thought bordered on lunacy - but he was fun to watch....

I agree with everyone on here about being in the moment. A critique I would like to add is the sponsor watermark in the upper left, it kinda gets distracting. I'm not saying its horrible, but its just that the Intro and wearing/using sponsor products should give the needed Sponsor mentioning; no need to go over-board. <--all that coming from a couple years of motorcycle racing

BH or Die is one of the best about not over promoting but yes I agree. Saying something like "the kill zone did a great job" when looking at a recovered deer is different than saying "that's why I buy killzones" when the deer was perfectly shot. Great show. One of my favorites. At least you guys don't show yourselves spraying down with a half gallon of "scent blocker" 3 times every episode.
