You know hunting season is getting close when BHOD is back on your screen! We changed things up a bit this year by holding back a lot of hunts and footage from last season, giving our editing team more time to work with the footage and tell more robust stories. Our guys put a lot of time and effort into documenting their seasons and it's tough to do them justice with a quick 10 minute update every few weeks.

So from now until October, we'll have a fresh Bowhunt or Die episode posted every Thursday night at 6 pm central. Hope you all enjoy them!

We kicked things off in grand fashion with Paul Morrison's epic Alaskan moose hunt.

This is probably an unpopular take but I just got done watching the episode posted - first of all great footage and narration enjoyed it.

    But…

It doesn’t make sense to me for a bow hunting forum where almost all past kills are bow kills to suddenly start showing and celebrating gun kills. I mean, I’m happy for these guys and all but this is a bow hunting forum not anything else.

And… I’m not sure these guys or the past hunters who apparently bagged 6 moose are carefully caring for the game they are killing. This part of the video is very sloppy.

We could have ended the story with just Paul's hunt, but we felt like that wasn't the whole story - even if it included a couple of gun kills. This was about 4 friends on an amazing adventure in Alaska together, battling the weather and Mother Nature on a hunt most of us only dream of.

As for the "carefully caring for the game" comment, I'm not entirely sure what that means?

I get it - it was part of the overall story, makes sense. They did a great job.

I don’t know it just seems like a camp like this would have a better system in place for storing meat. The last guys killed 6. These guys filled was 3 of 4 tags. So you got 9 kills in a two week period - you know bear are in the area anyway based on the sightings. Just seems pretty dangerous in general. Can’t believe they wouldn’t have the ability to hang some of the meat up out of reach? I mean nothing is going to guarantee they wont find a way to get to some of the meat. You’re flying in to an area with a runway and some sleeping quarters - it’s not entirely primitive.

I watch Alone on the history channel (highly recommend) and granted the ability to stay on the show and survive depends on them protecting their meat - those people on that show go to great lengths to protect what they kill. Sometimes it works sometimes the wildlife out smarts them.

All that said, I’ve never done anything remotely close to this. It’s probably just the way it goes and one of those things that you got to deal with and hope to get lucky. I guess it was just a disappointing reality that I hadn’t given much consideration to.

I love the new format. It allows us to get a better view into each hunters season and how they are approaching each hunt.

Paul's hunt was epic and the gun kills were just icing on the cake.

Johnny had an incredible season and we were happy to get a glimpse into his success.

Maryland sessions kicks off in 44 days and these videos are fueling the fires to get after it.
