Just wondering if anyone hunts in the rain? Have you ever killed anything while it was raining? Did you see many deer moving while it was raining? I don't mean a thunderstorm or downpour but a light steady rain? Thoughts, comments??????

    Thanks!

Many of my best hunts have been in the rain.

I don't like hunting in the rain. I prefer to enjoy myself and to stay dry.

i feel rain keeps your scent down more so hunting in the rain could be a slight advantage!!!

rain also keeps everything on the forest floor a lot more quiet than if it were dry.

I think you just dry it off when you get home. I think there is pretty much nothing special you need to do except make sure you dry off your whole bow so the metal parts don't rust or anything.

The rain makes the air crisp and cool, so the deer are often very active after a nice rain. I always make sure to get out after a rain to catch all the whitetails up and active after they've been bedding down

I was wondering the same thing what about pre-rut.
I would assume deer move around int he rain in or near rut but in pre-rut?

I'm with Pat on this one, rain and blood trails don't mix. Occasionally I'll hunt If It's some what misty but once It starts to rain harder then that I'm done unless I know for sure It's going to quit.

No rut, Pre rut, Rut, etc. It don't matter. They'll move regardless.

I just had an experience a week ago, it was steady rain for about 2-3 hours and just when i was about to give up, a nice 8 point came in. Ive seen the biggest deer on the worst days. They must know we hate the rain.
