What would you guys recommend as a bowfishing bow? I'm looking to get a bow dedicated just for fishing, so I don't have to use my deer rig. I would prefer to keep the costs as low as possible. I don't need the top of the line bow, all we do is walk creeks and shoot the fish, then jump in and grab the arrow/fish :D Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Recurve set at about about 45 lbs

BTW, you can get a Zebco 808 bowfishing real, a realseat and a bowfishing arrow for around $70. That way you don't have to jump in the water and chase your fish/arrow

AMS Fishawk bow is about 330.00 set up (reel, rest). Darton has a new bowfishing bow that's under $200 bare bow. (the aqua force)

Any bow will work. Heck, I have a bowfishing slingshot. In compounds you don't want too much poundage. (25-50lbs) As Jim said, about 45 lbs is ideal in a recurve.

I recommend a retriever reel over a spincast for new shooters. (I'm an old shooter and I still use one. :D ) There's pros and cons to each.
Get some arrows with safety slides. (get two arrows, not just one)
Waaay better than chasing your arrows down. ;)

I have a retired Mathews, an Outback actually. Turn the weight down and add the reel and rest, and we were good to go:)

How well does the Kingfisher work? I've considered getting it to see how well I like Bowfishing.
