I'm slowly but surely accruing the things I want/need for doing my own personal bow & arrow work. I'm looking for the best home use bow vise and/or tuning kit. I've come across many product names, but not so many testimonials or personal reviews. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
This vise is awesome... It's a little more than a few of the other options but it's top notch!!! OMP Versa-Cradle 360 Bow Vise
I've TRIED my hardest to convince myself to buy that over the past year, but I couldn't do it. I'm having a simple limb clamp Apple design made for me by my friend/co-worker here at school in the manufacturing lab. To the OP, the above mentioned vise is THE best of the best, imho. However, it really comes down to how much you want to spend. Apple, Last Chance, and American Archery Products all have similar design vises. They are also listed in descending order cost wise. I owned an American Archery Products Apple knock-off for years until it stripped out on me. The Last Chance vise is what I would go with if going the commercial route on a budget. The BTM press Fitz speaks of is great. I don't own one, but they're nice. I went with the Last Chance Archery EZ Green Press. I got it for a great price, and it's ridiculously quick. It lacks the built in draw board feature of the BTM, but for ~$35, I built my own draw board.
i don't intend on having my own business or anything. just something that'll get me by for basic tuning. i'm definitely open to hearing everybody's experiences for why you chose one over the other and to what extent you've used the vise. thanks y'all. reading more on the one's suggested. please keep 'em comin
The EZ Green is. OMP is based out of PA, and are a smaller company so I would guess they are made in the USA, but not sure. Perhaps contact them from their website to see if they're truly made and supplied in the USA.
Second this, I owned 3 presses and the BTM is the best when you consider easy of use, and doubling up as a draw board.
looks like a mean machine for sure. although, to be honest, i don't think i'll ever be a skilled enough tech to get my money's worth…definitely something to think about though.
