I have a PSE Extreme supershort and it has a string stop on it. Every time I release it makes a loud slap noise. I've installed limb savers on my limbs and a couple of monkey tails on the bowstring but no matter how I adjust the string stop it still makes a loud slap. Do I need it or can it be removed?
If it's slapping no matter how you adjust it, you simply might not even need it. You could also try replacing the stock rubber on the stop to a softer material. Some bows now come with 2 string stops, one at the top and one at the bottom. I would imagine they did this because it helps prevent the slap sound since most single string stops are mounted in the middle where the string is pulled furthest so naturally that spot creates the loudest snap.
From my experience, PSE bows aren't the quietest to begin with. I would check a couple things: the string stop should have a gap of about 1/8" between it and the string; check the cams as well - are they both set for the same draw length and are they damaged; check the limbs for any cracks or loose bolts anywhere on the bow.
I checked both cams and the limbs. Everything looks as it should. I just made an adjustment and there's about a 1/8th gap there now. I will also try the moleskin idea. Thank you for your suggestions
One thing that really helped me was going to a heavier arrow. Takes more of the bows energy to push the arrow and that means less energy to slap the stopper! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
