I was wondering if there were courses / training out there to become a bow technician. Mostly I want to work on my own equipment but the more I know the better. Any guidance?

Here is a link that will help you understand overall archery knowledge. Not so much geared toward bow technician but is a great sour e of knowledge.

A few of the big name bow manufactures' have school but they are expensive and you have to be sent from a shop. The best wayt to learn is from a mentor or other people. Watch other people closely and ask a lot of questions. Time is your friend. Your not going to learn everything over ngiht.

Honestly there isn't much that you can't learn on your own, do some research on online and then some hands on experiences and you will be fine. There is a ton of info on the web you just have to look for it.

You can learn just about everything from tinkering around with your own bow and reading this forum.. I'm pretty conferdent that I can tune any bow and trouble shoot them pretty well just through common sence and systems of elimination :) I worked in a archery shop for a while and didnt learn a thing !

Youtube.com has a lot of videos. Some are better than others. I just watched some videos and read some books. Then started trying the things I have seen. I even downloaded and printed off "Nuts and Bolts".

I have been a bow tech. in two different shops for 13 + years now and can say I was lucky enough to find a shop owner (original shop I was at) that not only taught me a great deal about everything archery, but also watched over my shoulder while I was tinkering to make sure I wasn't going overboard. Even though we parted ways he taught me more than most out there "think" they know. Try to find a decent shop and see if they will let you learn the basics then NEVER stop learning! Everyday I read something new on a forum, or in an outdoor journal and learn a little tid bit of info to use or to modify to suit my needs.
