Alright fellas, I have a small issue. I tend to go through bow strings like a drunk goes through a six pack. I shoot my bow 6-7 times a week, and I've tried many different bow strings, they all seem to crap out around the 6th month mark, fraying and what not. I'm very diligent about waxing my bow string and making sure it's well taken care of, but nothing really seems to last past that 6 month mark. I've cycled through two different manufactures but they both seem to last about the same.

So is this pretty typical? Or is there some super long lasting, holy grail type string I can shoot? I'm starting to think I'd be better off just ordering a bucket load of strings and getting a press to replace it, instead of having my local shop do it. At $100 a pop to install, tie in my rest and tie in my peep, as well as my D-loop, it's getting a little expensive to do twice a year (that's money I could spend on a new lonewolf treestand!)

PM Hutch-n-Son from Bowstring Depot and tell him your issues! He maybe could suggest something that may work better for you! He may even comment on this thread.

Most likely your cable slide. What's currently on the bow?

What areas are wearing on your string?
What areas are wearing on your cables?
After installing the string set how long does it take before wear shows?
What bow are we talking about?

If it's the PSE in your signature...your better off with Halo serving. My PSE Revenge is a serving eater on my buss cable...lol. I think all PSE's are from what I've owned. My Hoyt, I have Halo on it, but probably won't get it next time around...don't really need it on it. Also try a Saunders Hyper glide slide....MUCH better than the factory one.

I'm shooting a PSE stinger 3G, and the strings are wearing out right above and below the serving where my D-loop is. The cables seem to have no issue at all, although I'm sure the plastic cable guide could cause some issue. I'd say the wear seems to come in around 7-8k shots.

first thing is get a sauders hyper glide and that will solve the glide issue. Top and bottom of the center serving is usually due to a lot of touching by hand like holding it by the string in that area. With out knowing the string material I would say it could be 452x and it is fuzzing really bad. How is peep rotation?

Peep rotation isn't bad. I'm pretty sure it's 452x, about 90% sure. I just ordered the hyper glide.
I never really hold my bow by the string since I have a sling, so I'm just wondering if it's a crappy string? I don't want to rip on a manufacture, but I'm not very happy with the strings performance. I'll be getting in contact with you Hutch, to get me one of these famous Bow String Depot strings and give that a go. I just don't remember replacing my string nearly this much with my old Bear Whitetail II!

Just make sure you get halo serving. All PSE's need halo.... Lol. My Revenge don't wear near as bad with the halo serving.

BCY X would be your best option for string material for less fuzzing and speed and stability. Trophy is the same as 452x but has gore fiber in it to lower fuzzing and its 100% stable and has no creep. Halo is a braided serving stronger and helps in wear and grip.
