i need a new string. i just want to make sure before i buy the string that its correct. my bow says i have a 87.87 inch string. so does that mean i have to buy a 87 3/4 inch string? i know the fraction should be 87 7/8 inch but dont i need the string to run a bit smaller? also i dont think there is but do strings have different diameters? any info will help thanks guys.

A competent string maker should make your string the exact length called for in the specs. As far as diameter, a bow string is multi-stranded and some make strings with less strands (different string material also, I believe) to gain a touch of speed.

When replacing the string it is also a good idea to replace the cable(s).
