Going elk hunting this fall and wondering if getting something to carry bow around would be a good idea? Pros and cons anybody? The pack I have can carry the bow while backpacking in, but once we set up a camp we will more than likely be putting on some miles. I'll still carry my pack, but it isn't very accessible on pack.

My idea is it would be nice for carrying, but still might be better to just carry the bow. I would say now that I would go without it, but wanted to hear some other opinions.

The Apache sling looks like a great addition to a git-up but i just prefer to hold it in my hand. It's all personal preference really. If i'm gonna be hiking under 15 miles it doesn't bother me to hold the extra 4 lbs in my hand but anything over that I start to get wore our so I will just cram it in my pack any way I can fit it.

The cheater bow sling is pretty sweet for spot and stalk or still hunt type hunts. It improves my accuracy also. http://www.quickmitt.com/

I've use the Apache Sling by NAP for 2 seasons now and I really like it (mine is camo though not black).

I'll chime in another vote for the Apache sling. I started using a bow sling about 5 or 6 years ago and don't go into the field without one. It really comes in handy - especially when I'm lugging around camera equipment.

I used a duffle bag strap with snaps that open and it works great, doesn't cost any money either, just don't lose it and replace it when your done.

Do you have a closet full of duffle bags with no straps?

I am going to check this out. I have the Primos, but it sometimes doesn't work the best.
