I have several bows, and they have different levels of quiet when shot. The Mathews Switchback is the quietest, then the Legacy, then the Martin Firecat. The Firecat is an absolutely beautiful and accurate bow which I just adore shooting in every way. However it's got quite a "swack" when released. It does have a factory string stop. Funny thing is I ordered this martin because they will make you a 65lb draw weight and nobody else will. I also ordered it in flat black with carbon fiber limbs. I don't know anyone else that will build you a bow with the color scheme you want. Now Mathews is offering the same color scheme called the Z7 tactical, Funny I had this made 2 years ago with the same vision! How can I make this bow as quiet as possible. There are a ton of rubber bits on the market today to glue on or attach somehow to the riser and limbs for sound control. But I could have 80 bucks into that investment before I find the selection that does it. My buddy has a Z7 and it's quiet, but not really as quiet as the Switchback, although he's shooting like 74lbs and I'm shooting 62lbs. I would say the Martin is a bit louder then the Z7. Before we get too far down the road here, My arrows are spined correct, and the correct weight. I shoot the same arrows and draw weight and length for all my bows and the accuracy and paper tuning is spot on. They are Hunter 400's and with the point weigh 437 grains at 28.5" ( if my memory serves me well) So what are the tricks I can use to sort out this bow? any suggestions welcome.
I'm a cat whisker fan and will always be. It's just incredible how much noise they dampen. I don't care about the few FPS speed loss...the quietness surely makes up for this.
My Winchester Quicksilver 31 came with factory string leeches called "speedsters" and came with the limbsavers for split limbs installed. It also comes with the factory string stopper. the only thing i put on it myself to help with noise and vibration is the 8" apache stabilizer. whatever type of rubber it is really pulled out the whatever little vibration and noise it had to begin with and has made my bow stealthy at a ninja-esque level.
Im new to the forum, but i run cat wiskers, they work lose a little speed but when they cant hear it, you dont need to be fast, learned a new way of putting them on, send me a pm if interested its awsome.
Have you tried the monkey tails from Mathews? I have them on my Monster and they make a big difference.
I'm also looking into silencing my bow, do limbsaver's go by a one size fits all mentality? Can I install them myself? Also is it helpful to do limsavers and whiskers? Or is one only needed?
