I set mine this year at 20, 30 and 40 yards. However, i plan on changint mine next year...maybe adding pins. I rarely...if ever get a chance at anything close to 40 yards. So, I'm looking at maybe 10, 20 and 30 yards. It all depends on what you think your shooting will be like.

***Sighting in and setting up a bow is always easier if you can get hands on help from a knowledgeable person in your area.

    1. Many people do it many different ways. First, start off very close (10 feet) and use the top pin to make sure you are even in the ballpark. If you are just a bit high, move back (10 yards). If not, you will need to adjust the sight. Rule of thumb is follow the arrow. If you are shooting too high, then you need to move the pin up. Shooting too low, then move the pin down. Same with right and left. Destances, are even more personal. Starting out you may want to have a 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 yard pins with your 5 pin setup. My top pin is 20 and if I were you I would drop the bottom two or three pins out and concentrate on 20 and 30 if that is your top two pins.

    2. As for a practice routine, shoot as much as you are comfortable, you will know when you are too tired. Don't go hog wild and shoot hundreds of arrows the first time out because you couldn't get it quite sighted in. Try and work your way back to 20 yards using the above method. If it's 40 arrows and your arm is spent, take a break for a few hours or till the next day, no use shooting while your arm is rubber, it's not gonna help you.

    3. It's really a confidence thing. When you feel you can consistantly put that arrow in a deer's vitals, then you are ready. That's might only be at 20 yards, you just have hold yourself to your own personal effective distance.

    4. Feel free to pm. Good luck. You have chosen a great sport and got a great bow. Above all, have fun.
