If I don't pursue my flyrod interests (see the water cooler :D ), I'm thinking of investing in a bow scale. Obviously this is much less of an expense, but I'm still looking for affordability (so no I don't need to spend the $120+ on the easton scale). Anyways, I like the coffey digital for the hold feature (this will eventually be used on a draw board). It's not listed on their site anymore, and quick searches turned up nothing. First, if someone could point me in the direction of where to locate this scale for sale (), that would be great.

Secondly, does anyone have any other suggestions? Budget is a factor, and spending less is more here. Thoughts on traditional vs digital? A few people said they had issues getting peak weight accuracy with the coffey's. How important is the inclusion of this feature? It seems if I can get by with a $20 scale, then why not? Thoughts?

    Matt, I have the simple

scale, it's simple but mine is off 1 lb. It's more than adequate for measuring the bows weight.

    It's simple.

To be honest, I'd prefer a digital scale. BPBowhunter was up and brought his, I believe a person could do so much more with a digital one.

That's about all I have to offer. I'm not sure digital over another one so I'll be watching this thread as well.

I do use the one I have above but it's simplistic.

I'd honestly save until I could buy the Pelouze 7710. It will not only allow you to get peak weight, but will also allow you to see holding weight. This is important IMHO, especially if your intending to use it on a draw board.

Edit - And if you can't afford the Pelouze right now and can't wait, I'd go with a low priced non-digital one that you won't mind replacing when you are able to free up more cash. The one Rob posted should work.

You recommended this scale somewhere else and I looke dit up and got one. Awesome scale, I couldn't be happier with it. I'll have a draw board in a couple of weeks and am anxious to use it on that.

The Coffey scale does both draw weight and peak holding weight. And it isn't priced too bad at around $50.00

I have a Coffey scale and it worked OK for a while. Then, for whatever reason, whenever I would use the peak weight feature, it would add 20lbs. It was fairly accurate as long as I would subtract 20lbs from the number shown. I say fairly accurate because when I got the Pelouze 7710 and measured the DW's they were, according to 7710, actually 3lbs less. This 3lb difference seemed more accurate to me and seemed to explain the discrepancy in what I thought the arrow should do and what it was actually doing spinewise.

The 7710 is worth the extra money, at least to me, for what I want out of a scale.

This was a common issue I read about with the coffey's. Thanks for the suggestions/feedback Bruce and Matt.

I suppose it's time to keep saving my money. It's funny how much easier it is to spend money when you're not getting married and buying a house:deer:

Ah come on wimp. Just buy it and worry about it later. It's what America has been built on.:d

Plus you should set the bar high now, otherwise you could end up in trouble later.

You can do better than that. You have seen the queen size in the "man room." It's all your's for the taking, just throw a log on if you are up in the night.
