I recently purchased a new Bowtech Destroyer and aside from everything else, I need to buy a new press b/c I just have the old conventional press circa 1995 or so. I was looking at this one "DS APPLE EDGE BOW PRESS" and saw that it was also sold on this site. It is fairly inexpensive compared to others I was looking at, but I was curious if anyone has used one and what impressions were of it before I spent the $. I really like the limb tip presses where the limb tip grips are just mounted on a worm gear and you turn the crank, but those were over $1200, which blows my mind when you think about what is actually there.

Any way any suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.

I would NOT press a Destroyer in that Apple.

The two presses that Corporate is saying are OK to use on a Destroyer are the Sure Loc X press, and the Last Chance EZ Press. I know Justin has the Last Chance press listed on this site, and it's a lot less than $1200. If you wanted the Sure Loc X-Press, I'm sure Justin can get it for you too, you just won't be able to see it in the shopping cart on this site.

I personally have the Last Chance press in my basement, and I think it's one of the best and most versatile out there. I also have access to a Sure Loc X-Press at the club I belong to, when I need to press my Destroyer I drive to the club to put it in the Sure Loc, even though Corporate says you can press on top of the pillow blocks with the EZ press, I'd prefer not to.

Keep in mind, the Last Chance press will press those beyond parallel limb bows like the X-force or Center Pivots with no attachements, the Sure Loc will require you to buy additional accessories for those types of bows. Both of them are going to run you $550-$600.

    Bruce and Kodiak,
That is exactly what I was looking for and must have missed it. Thanks for pointing it out.

    RJ,
Do you just like the pressure to be placed across the limb like the X-Press does as opposed to placing the pressure on the end of the limbs like the EZ press? Educate me here because TO ME it would seem like if the pressure was applied at the end of the limbs, then you have more leverage and would need less pressure, thus easier on the bow. However, in this area I am the Toto to your Wizard of Oz.

I think he is concerned about the pressure on the pillow blocks. Something to think about. Any other case and pressing at the limb tips would be best, IMO.

That's exactly it. Any other bow I do like using the EZ press with the pressure on the limb tips. The Destroyer has pillow blocks though for the axles, and you would need to press on top of the pillow blocks. I have talked to the guys at Corporate about this, and they say it's OK to press on top of the pillow blocks, but since I have a choice of using an EZ press or Sure Loc X, I chose to use the Sure Loc.

If I were to be in the position to buy again, I'd still probably get the EZ press just because they are so versatile with so many bows. Just make sure if you pick up the EZ press, take your time and be careful to set it up so that pressure on the limb tips is correct, the fingers are lined up on the pillow blocks, etc.....

What about the Bow-A-Constrictor from buckeyearchery.com?
At the ATA it was said there was not a bow that this could not press, including crossbows. And for less than $500.00!
I am looking too, because I own a Z7 and have an older model Toad press with the rollers and side assist jack.

I went ahead and purchased, received and pressed my Destroyer with an X Press, the EZ is the only other one I'd attempt this with at this time.

IfI didn't have access to Rob's press less than 5 miles away, I'd have an EZ press in my man room already.

Yeah, yeah.;) That's why a new Destroyer would cost me almost $1500 (bow AND press).

Think about how many times you need to press a bow. Press it and change the DL to your appropriate DL, add the peep and your done. Likely til you need a new string. Your welcome to mine.

I actually have a little portable one. I can't remember where I bought it though.
