Currently shooting a 2006 Diamond Triumph. Just purchased a new string/buss so figure I'll shoot it this season and begin the search for a new bow towards the end of this year. I've always seen myself as a "middle of the road" guy, so I've always tended to purchase that level of equipment.......not thinking I'd use the equipment hard enough to justify the additional costs of high-end gear. That said, I'll be looking for an upgraded bow near year's end and wonder if there are any manufacturers that really stand out above the rest? My gut tells me there are die hard fans of any given maker, but in actuality, technology and modern production practices keep everything fairly equal. I've recently looked over Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, Obsession and Elite bows........any standouts in this group? Joe
I really like my Mission Ballistic (a mid price range bow). Mission is "by Matthews", but I have no idea what this means specifically in terms of manufacturing. I'll bet someone on here can clarify. I would recommend considering this brand when trying out bows at your local archery shop.
I'd say go shoot as many as you can at pro shops, find one that fits you. Then keep an eye open for someone who upgrades yearly selling it online, then you get middle of the road price with high end gear.
I think you will find that the technology difference between your current bow and a new midlevel or gently used high end bow will be so great you would be happy with either. In 2015, I upgraded from a 2004 PSE Deer Hunter (entry level basic bow) to a Hoyt Charger (mid-level bow). I was so impressed with the differences that I didn't care about not buying a high level bow. Shoot as many as you can and go with the one that feels rights.
I've been intrigued by the new Quest Thrive, lots of high end technology in a middle of the road price slot.
Of what you looked @ already, I’d choose the Hoyt. Hoyt is very serious about their quality and consistent performance. Secondly? I’d go Mathews. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If actual warranty means something to you. Mission and Mathews have a real lifetime warranty. Every part for every bow model ever produced is still available. Every other manufactures quit making parts for bow in as little as 3 years after bow model is discontinued. Then their lifetime warranty is offering you a current model at a discounted price. Just what I want......a new bow from a maker that made the broken bow I already have. For the price I don't see how a Mission could be beat.
Well......I see where this is headed. I have a new QAD rest sitting on the bench, and I just bought a new sight...........it won't be long before I talk myself into trading in my Triumph
Dammit.....going to my Hoyt dealer tomorrow to check out a Powermax. I'm reading good things about this bow, and it seems to still fit my "middle of the road" mindset. Maybe my dealer will work a trade-in for the old Diamond.
