Hey y'all, I have a few questions about bow setup for turkeys. Do y'all shoot your deer hunting draw weight? Those who shoot the decapitating type of broadhead, which one do you like and why?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

_V5A5626.jpg _V5A5495.jpg I shot my normal poundage (65#) and used the Solid D-Cap head. As you can see it did the trick. I chose to use this head because of the durability of it. I shot one of the heads 50-60 times into a hanging piece of carpet with no issues. They are pricey but I see no reason that I can't shoot quite a few birds with the same head.

Video of this hunt can be seen here

At 200 grains, do you use the same arrow you'd use for deer?

No I don't, I normally shoot a 400 spine Easton axis 5mm for deer. For these I shot a full length Beman ICS Hunter 340 with 4 inch feathers.

Same setup all year round. No use adjusting something that works. Still shoot a heavy arrow setup, I want that bird to know it was hit by a train. Only change I might make is to go back to the Muzzy MX-3 fixed head, I haven't shot one with the trocar hybrids yet, but I think they'll be fine.

Same set up for me as well. Only thing different for me is the broad head. For turkeys, I use a four blade mechanical.

I shoot a Magnus bullhead. Same draw weight I just shoot a full length gold tip made for those broadheads with a 5in right helical feather. It really surprised me because they actually shoot flatter than my deer hunting set up. I can shoot 1 pin out to 30-35yds. They shoot true enough that I would try a shot a 40 with no worries.
Now if I shoot them in the body I would drop my draw weight. And I would shoot a expandable broadhead that opened from the front. That way you loose some of the energy on the hit and the arrow stays in the bird. Try to shoot them in the joint of the wing or right over hips so that they cannot jump up to fly.
    Hope this helps!

I too am shooting the bullhead in 100 grain, same draw weight, single pin with a couple inches added to my blue streaks with standard blazer vanes to clear the shelf/riser. I marked my sight tape with a pen for 30 yards and had no change at 20 with the added arrow weight. They fly true out of a properly tuned bow, I tested out to 40 yards with no accuracy issues and they carry a lifetime guarantee.
