I just wanted to know if anyone here has bow hunted turkeys without a pop up blind, and have you been successful. Also i wanted to know how you set up to keep hidden.

Yep. I've done it once. It's tough. I was kneeling next to a tree and my decoy was facing away from me. When he moved around behind her....... Thwack! I've been hunting them out of a blind for a few years now. It's the onl way to go.

I did not to long ago...set up behind some brush and made a shooting hole. Set up decoys looking away from me. Had a jake come in but unfortunatly missed. I was sitting up against a tree and not really used to that position.

I carry a fold-up stool/chair with me and set up in front of a bush or trees real close together. I've taken three like that.

Im not the man but it sounded good :D
Yes it can totally be done :) I have taken 5 from the ground with no pop up, and 1 from a tree stand. Im just not a fan of pop ups, I just feel to confined in them. I like to see in all directions and If im in a pop up im likely gonna get lazy and not be mobile if nessasary. <just me ;) I always try and plan my setups ahead of time ( you have to look forward to make it work) When im not in natural blinds that I have constructed, Ill use whats there. The bird I killed this year had no clue that I was there ;) He thought a Hen was in there and kept looking in that direction but good camo and lots of cover was in my favor. I was 10 yards in off the edge of a field, waist high honey suckle and briers. I was behind a tree and had range finder in hand when he came into view, ranged him and waited till he passed behind a bush. I drew when he was totally hidden and pointed to the next opening, when he was in view again he ate shaft @ 34 yards ;) having a barrier when drawing is almost a must.

That's exactly what my thoughts were. I drew on 2 gobblers this spring, and they pegged me right when I started to draw. 7 jakes passed within 4 yards and never even got nervous, but the toms weren't fooled as easily

The only way I've ever bowhunted turkeys is without a blind. I've killed 2 this way and missed another. I just used the natural cover. Most of my turk kills have been with a shotgun, but I did do it with a bow just to see if I could get it done. On my successful bowkills and on the one I shot right over, I had a wall of brush that allowed me to draw as they were walking down the tree line my way and then I just waited at full draw so I didnt have to try and draw while they were out in front of me.

I have only used a pop up once, due to rain. I have killed 5 without. You just have to set yourself up for a one direction shot. If the bird doesn present himself, you CAN NOT MOVE. You dont move untill the bird is where it issupposed to be. Period. You have t have everything in order before you hit a call or try a shot.

Yep. I taken a half dozen birds with a bow and none have been from a blind. I use trees and brush to help hide my movements. I'll set my deeks up between two large trees, brush piles, knolls, ect. I try to have those "blockers" within 10 yards of me with the hope that the bird will walk behind them on his way to the decoys. When he is behind I draw and take the first good shot I can get once he clears the obstacle. If the blockers don't work out I'll wait until he's fanned out out facing away from to draw. If the bird sees me I just go ahead and draw back and try to get shot before he bolts.

my son sat right out in the open with his back to a tree and had a pretty good size jake come in it was his first year on the 12 guage so he got nervous and the shot wasnt right but yes he had success then 2 days later we literally walked right up on a dozen gobblers
