Ok so I had my surgery monday morning and I came home last night. walking sucks sitting sucks. But the doctors and nurses where impressed with my ability to move as well as I am already. I really want to thank all of you that wished me luck cause you brought it. I will do my best to be out in the field and bring home a nice big buck for all of us on bow hunting.com.
Michael, I'm glad everything went good. I had my back operation in the middle of October 2008. I had just about the same thing you did but I had two discs removed and I was doing great by Halloween walking around no problem with the kids trick-or-treating. I probably could have been bow hunting but I took it easy and stayed away from my bow for the better part of the season. That was my decision, I didn't want to take any chances of hurting myself again. I've put my body through more than most will ever do and I need it to last now! LOL! I did so well after my operation that my doctor didn't even prescribe physical therapy for me, he just sent me on my way and said "use your head". So here I am about two years later and my back hasn't felt this good since 1985. For me, it was simple....a couple months off and maybe skip half a bow season just to be sure. Or risk the chance of hurting myself again...for me it was a no brainier. But again you must understand, I've had my share of injuries and I'm not in any hurry to go through it all again anytime soon! Good luck to you, I hope you stay healthy.
Good luck with the recovery. That's why I had my hip replaced in May. After turkey season and plenty of time to recover before bow season. :D
