Looking for a bow 27 to 28” DL w/ 45# + DW. Something he can grow into. Before I drop $400 at the dealer, thought I'd check here for a better deal.

Why not something like a Bear Apprentice for $279? 27.5" axle to axle, 15lbs-60lbs draw weight, 15"-27" draw length, 70% let off. He can grow into this and use it for at least the next 3-4 years as he grows and with the cost you will have the wiggle room for a case, arrows, release, and any other extras he will need.

Plenty of bows with a lot of draw length adjustment.

DO NOT GET A BOW TO GROW IN TO. Set it up correctly so he can learn to shoot properly, be more accurate and have more fun and hit what he is aiming at

My buddy at a Mathews dealer wants me to buy him a Mathews craze. He's had a Barnett youth bow now for a few years. I just may buy him a Mathews bow like his dad.

Wish I'd have seen this earlier. Sold my wife's Q2 w rest, HHA sight, and a good rest for 125.00. Draw weight was 40 to 60. Would have been a nice bow for him.

There are a lot of good bows for that on the market. My brother has a diamond razor edge as his first bow and has liked it.

Like the foxman said though, make sure it's set up right. Adjust it as he grows (but with a 28" dl probably not too much more, hopefully for your grocery bill at least).

A guy at work got a reezen 6.5 that the draw length was about 2 inches too long on. I did everything including offering to buy him a new cam and go get it changed but he just never did. Needless to say he hated it and sold the setup and got a crossbow.

My son ended up choosing a youth bear 27dl/ 50#dw. Don't know why, but he was dead set on this bow. He turned down the craze and the shop had a new adult bear (don't remember the model) someone returned he was going to sell me cheap too. Can't be mad it saved me money for now and this should last him till he inherents my hand-me-downs.

Another vote for the Craze! I'm 14 and it's perfect. Very light bow! I bought mine at a dealer with everything on it, including 6 arrows for $400. Really not a bad price for a brand new bow
