well boys she has finally given in... shes gettin a bow!! i keep telling her it would be the best thing she ever bought and now she is going through with it. anybody know any bows that work out good for women? she can pull back around 45 lbs. thanks guys
My wife's first bow was the Matthews Mission.. Light poundage and very adjustable draw length... This was a bow that was forgiving and kinda got her into the nack of shooting.. She was able to start grouping pretty dang good.. She moved up to the "PINK" Bowtech Diamond... She is shooting much faster, more poundage now (up to 44 lbs now) and shoots the TechnoHunt (live video hunts that let you shoot a screen at 22 yards at live videos of misc animals and scores your hunt) and keeps up very well... Really got her ready to hunt.. Angle shots, having to wait for perfect shot, walking deer etc... The mission was very affordable and when I sold it, I ended up paying less than $100 for her new bow.... Resale is very good...
I'd have her try out the Mission by Mathews Craze at your local Mathews dealer. Also, right now, when she shoots the bow (or any mission bow), she'll get a free hat and a chance to win a Polaris Ranger. Go to Mission's website for more info.
The missions are very good bows. My wife and I both are planning to try and buy new bows next year and she has picked out the Hoyt Vicxen. She's not big on pink and she says there are just certain things you don't feminize like guns, fishing rods and bows to list a few. The Vicxen has some pink accents on the string and grip. She shot it and fell in love with it. Its fast too. 306fps. Its getting great reviews also. As always have her shoot as many as she can.
Easy, tell her they don't make them that small and be fortunate for the peace and quiet. Sorry, had to...
After thinking about my post I decided that I need to explain more. I took my wife to cabellas to try shooting a bow for her first time. The woman at cabellas was very nice & showed my wife a few bows. After shooting two or three bows my wife sort of liked one, but wasn't sure. She thought she might wait for the bear homewrecker to come out ( this was earlier in the year, its out now). Next we went to gander mountain & they told her they realy didn't have much for her other than the bowtech diamond razers edge. She shot it there & hated it. She was now convinced she wanted to wait for the bear homewrecker. I talked her into going to a local archery shop & checking out what they might have for her. Right away they brought up the razers edge & she wanted no part of it. After convincing her to give it a try she loved it. The bow at gander was out of time & not the correct draw length for her. Going somewhere that they know what they are doing made all of the difference in the world.
Here is my take on this one. lol I have been married 3 times now. This one is my last period. The first two hated anything I liked. After experiencing that I had to be with someone that enjoyed things I do. My wife now is awesome. She enjoys being involved with hunting and archery. This benefits me, her and our relationship in many different ways. Number one, I am not ever nagged about heading out to the stand. Not once has she said well honey, I wanted to...... She knows there are only 4 months of the season and doesn't mind at all. She sat in on a few hunts last year and loved it. As far as scouting, food plots and anything else I do out in the woods in the off season, no problems there either. She started shooting my bow some and really enjoyed it too. I got another newer bow and my old one is set up for her until we buy her a Vicxen. This means when I want to go out for an hour or two and sling arrows, I don't hear about it or get interrupted. She doesn't shoot as much as I do but, when she does, its fun and I enjoy it because she is a pretty decent shot. I have throughly enjoyed sharing this with her and I hope she continues to enjoy it with me. Good thing is even if she doesn't continue to do it, I know she now understands more of it and wont mind at all. I think it can be a good thing if done right. Of course she could drive you nuts about going all of the time. Good thing is, after she goes enough you can put her in her own stand and let her have at it. Or, she may buy one shoot it for a while then loose all interest. Either way at least she will understand a little more about it. You have to watch those women though. Some of them make amazing archers. Good luck with it and enjoy it.
I would just tell her what ever bow I wanted the most... "yeh sweet heart I recon a 70lbs Mathews MR6 would be fine for you lovey"
Have you thought about a PSE Chaos? I bought my wife the PSE Chaos FC and man she loves it. Really good bow. Nice feel, nice style, nice look. It shoots pretty fast too. I think the NI is a little faster than the FC, but just wondering if she's shot that yet.
I've got several that I'll trade for the right bow. Heck, for a Hoyt or an Elite Hunter I might trade my wife
