Im new to this and just trying to acquire all the knowledge i can. I have my personal draw length, if im trying to by a bow should i worry about that or can you change it to your personal settings with each bow by changing strings or cams or anything else?

Bows have adjustable draw lengths ranging from 24-31"...there are adjustments that can be made on the cams/wheels. Some bows you have to change a module. When buying a bow the store/pro-shop will help you and they will set the bow up FOR YOU. You can do it yourself but, you'll need a press to do it safely...just let the store/pro-shop do this.

I am in the same situation you are in. I have a 20 year old golden eagle, that my dad just gave me. I am 6'3 and should have a 30" draw length. The bow I have has a 29" draw. I shoot just fine with it. JMO

Even on a used bow you should have it adjusted to fit you. I was shooting a bow that the peep was way off so instead of having it moved I developed a few bad habits. Finally I moved it and was shooting so much better.
A good used bow can be a very good choice. Just heed my warning. The bow is set up for someone else. Get it set for you.

And as stated above, the draw length on any bow can be changed. Sometimes it's just an adjustment to the string position on the cam but on some bows you have to change the cam itself. Typically it isn't a big deal, however, the older the bow is, the harder the cams are to find.

You can find some nice used bows out there that are 4 years old for around $200. I'd rather spend the $200 than try to get a 20+ year old bow working for ya.

Thanks, everyone has been a big help. I was chatting with a bass pro rep online and i asked the same question she told me she had to research the answer. I thought they were the experts, i can research the answer for myself, after that i decided to come ask the real experts. Thanks Again!

Save up some cash bud. Find a good, trustworthy pro-shop. Mine is awesome - i tried 4 bows before deciding and got free lessons while shooting.

Try to find an 02-05 with everything for a couple hundred bucks.
