Did you see the Cincinnati players raising sand this AM when they asked about Brian Kelly leaving? The players are pissed and expressed those feelings. They stated they understood the business aspect, but for them to come this far and now he leaves...Listent to the interviews of these guys, they are passionate and look to be genuinly (sp) hurt. I understand the business as well, and the challenge for a coach (the big money also) to win at ND and the resources he will be giving are second to none. I just thought the fire they showed was very impressive in this passive, pat on the back and good luck to everyone, hope it all ends in a tie world we live in. Florida still punishes them either way:D

I've always HATED this scenario (for the players), having gone through this exact scenario in my college playing days (baseball). I transferred from D1 to NAIA, due to the fact that I'd only have to sit out (ineligible) for one semester (instead of 1yr...if I'd transferred to another D1 school). We go 42-16 my freshamn year. 6 draftees; 3 graduates and 10 transfers later.....my old school goes 9-37 the next year. Sucks for the remaining players.

When the coach leaves......the players SHOULD BE released from their letters of intent. It would make schools think twice about hiring coaches who have the propensity to "dine and dash".

Now.....BK doesn't fit that "mold", and I don't blame him one bit for taking the dream gig. Not one bit. I just think it sucks for the remaining players.

Can't blame him for leaving, but I think I would have stayed until after the bowl game.

Problem with staying until after the bowl game is.....from now until the 1st of the year....is the BEST recruiting time college coaches have (for unsigned players). Undecided players know this, and hold out.

I'm guessing he'll be recruiting his ass off for ND, starting today.

So do the players quit and roll over in the Sugar Bowl?

Or do they play "inspired" football to spite their ex-coach?

I agree with Jeff. The players should be able to transfer without penalty from the NCAA. Heck, the guy that recruited me in highschool to play college ball just left the University of Richmond to take the head job at UVA. He only coached Richmond for 2 years then left. I don't blame him for leaving at all...1.7 million a year would make one jump at the chance. That being said, the players should have the right to transfer without penalty.

I for one believe the Cincinnati players will play inspired football.
