That's an awesome looking bike Rob! Congrats. I think all states should mandate the use of a helmet. It does save lives you know. Anyway, just be careful man. Have fun!
Finchy, PA used to be that way, they removed that law. Talk is they may reinstate it but I hope they don't do that. I hate laws that say you must do something and infringe on my personal rights. I don't agree with the seat belt law either. It should be our choice. I know they save lives too but I was in a school bus accident where we hit a Bronco head on. The guy in the Bronco lived because he was not wearing his seat belt. He was thrown across the seat and the steering wheel was slammed into the drivers seat. Helmets also break necks so which is worse, death or confinement to a wheel chair? It's my freedom, my choice.
I don't know Jeff, he started mine in the showroom. It was tough enough. I couldn't tell a huge difference to the after market ones I heard in the back. Perhaps times have changed slightly. Hell, I've heard Honda's and Suzuki's that are so much louder than they once were. I'll probably end up changing them as everyone I've talked to says, the first thing you'll do is change the pipes. LOL And the Heat Shield.....the one I saw on the bike was up just under the seat on the pipe side of the bike. He said when your at a light in the summer for any length or in a large bike run when things are slow, the heat shield is just that, it keeps the heat of the engine off your right thigh.
Harleys dont get heat shields. As for the pipes, yeah it would sound loud inside, the noise is confined to a small space, but get her out on the highway?? different story. Your choice though. Have fun on that thing.
Well, you're right Rob. It is your choice and I respect that. We better not hear you preaching the use of a safety harness. Just kidding. Anyway, you're not going to be one of these harley guys that despises every other non-Harley biker out there, are you? :D
Absolutely not. Years ago when I sold my Suzuki and told a coworker I'd never own another bike until it was the Harley I wanted he said to me, "Any bike is better than no bike". Besides, I was seriously looking at another Suzuki and even a Yamaha. They are incredible today and I can't believe how beautiful they are. I won't be a "Harley" guy, just another motorcycle enthusiast.
Thanks Scott, I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to more, the bike coming home or spring gobbler season. Maybe I can get some birds to fire off when revving the bike at the house? :d
LOL Scott, it will give my neighbor down the hill something else to complain about. I'll have to wrist twitch it an extra time when I come to the stop sign.
