Bought a House - Updated Well, over the weekend we officially got keys to our home. Today after work starts the joys of revamping the inside. Going to pull carpets out tonight. Then get to scrubbing after work tomorrow. Totally gutting the bathroom then (budget-savy) redoing the kitchen. I feel like an extreme coupon-er trying to find coupons for everything! Got a nice three stall horse barn. Has fencing in place - but it's barb wire and we wont even put a cow in that. So that will be empty until next year. Two ponds on the property. A ton of snapping turtles. Starting to trap those and giving them to a friend for turtle soup. Going to be getting some ducks from the guy in exchange. Then in August we will be planting our deer plot! I'm thinking I may just throw some cameras up this week, too. Saw a nice size deer track yesterday! Sure is enough to make me go crazy!
Congratulations, but policy on this site dictates that if you don't post photographs, it didn't really happen.
Thank you! It has almost 30 acres. ETA; I'm working on pictures. Can't get them from my phone on here. I'm trying!
I've just seen too many nasty injuries from it. From horses running and sliding into it, kicking at a fly and getting tangled in it, etc. IMO it's more dangerous than a regular wire fence. Had a cow once who liked to itch belly on the wire - if it were barb wire, she would have been torn to pieces. I know plenty of farms around here that have it - but I think I have very accident prone animals!
Thank you all! Here are some pictures from the outside. Looking down from house. Looking up from pond. That grass was so tall it could have been baled! The lady hadn't mowed it in way too long. This is one of our ponds. Has seven natural springs running into it. And a quick glimpse from the road.
Thank you. It surely is an all day mowing experience. The outside is actually in really awesome shape though besides yard work. The house needs restained, but that may wait another year. Hoping maybe a pressure washer will make a difference.
Understandable, I wouldn't use for horses either. Cows we have never had an injury in over 30 years from the barbed wire itself. Nice pictures and good luck with your new place! Sent from my SCH-I200 using Tapatalk
Awesome, enjoy the new land! Little bit of elbow grease and you'll have that house looking sharp in no time! That's my goal once I retire from the Army, have about 30-40 acres with a small house...I just want the land mainly!
