Ever had a job where your boss thinks he is all high and mighty? Thinks that since he is in charge he has the right to just be a complete ***hole... I makes enjoying the work day so hard... I can never figure out why some people would want to act that way!!

My last job was that way. I never met a person like this guy. The most ignorant, rude, self centered piece of something that dont smell good, that I ever met. No matter who you were, or how great of a person you were, he always had to talk about you behind your back. Would always find something. And just to get an idea how bad this guy is, this is a true story:

One of our trucking contractors was driving a load to dispose of when a lady in a small car was texting and crossed into his lane. The trucker did everything he could to miss her, including grinding on the guard rail to get as far over as he could, but hit her head on. Some how, this lady lived. Now, dont get me wrong, she made a big mistake and could have caused some major damage to more then just herself and her car by her selfish mistake, but never the less, a normal human would be happy to hear she pulled through. His response..."the dumb b*#&h should have suffered slowly and died in front of her kids".

You have no idea how happy I was when work died out and I was no longer needed. How I made it 3 months without knocking this man out is beyond me...I came so close so many times.

Yup, have them all the time. Most of my previous bosses I wouldn't offer a ride if they were walking down a 100mile stretch of road.

I've worked at the same place for 36 years. What I've noticed is that a high percentage of the newly hired bosses (newbies), start off with a chip on their shoulder. Most of them mellow out in time but not all of them.

Its just you think they would realize if they don't show respect they will never get any. There are people who have worked here 30+ years who say it has done nothing but get worse and are even talking about quitting. He is just rude to everyone, thinks people steal from him all the time, and its like he feels everyone owes him something.

I don't even know what to say about that... They woman did do wrong but seriously that isn't even right, she doesn't deserve that! If it was his wife or himself in that car I guarantee he wouldn't be saying anything like that! That is just cold hearted.

I deal with one every day.
Makes it hard to go to work when he curses and calls employees curse names daily

You know, if I changed your 36 years to 24 years and also changed (newbies) to (junior officers) that would be a great description of my time in the Navy.

I just loved the attitudes that the new "academy graduate" officers had when they got to the ship. It didn't take them long to learn that while the uniform commands a certain level of respect, real respect is earned.

My general supervisor is an engineer running a maintenance department. One of my supervisors tries to circumvent the planning process, then gets upset when the job wasn't planned (i.e. parts, support equipment). It's frustrating as hell when the two get on a "schedule compliance" run. Luckily, the other supervisor stands besides me and my partner when we say that they are getting out of control with some of their expectations. Then, add in the old timers who will never believe the system will work.

Being a boss isn't any easier. You have to put up with multiple personalities, you hear every excuse in the book, everybody thinks they work harder then the next guy. I swear I can't leave work for more then 3 days without somebody "f'ing" something up that they have done for years. When you take a look at your boss and wonder why he is such an a$$ ask yourself what else has he had to deal with that day and are you and everyone around you doing the best that you can.

That's good advice that sometimes I forget to look at. For all the headaches, frustrations and the comments about going back on my tools, I know that my supervisors, all three of them, support me and appreciate my contrbutions
