Looking at finding a pair of boots that are geared towards shed hunting mostly but anything where I will be walking a lot. They wouldn't need to be insulated, or at least not very much, but need to be waterproof.

What does everyone wear? Have a Cabela's gift card that I would like to put towards a pair if they have something I like.

Don't really have a max price in mind right now. For as much walking as I usually do in a year, I just need something comfortable and reliable.

I ended up just using a set of Merrill hikers this year. If it got cold I'd just up the sock, colder still and I'd throw on the boot blankets.
Can't stand walking in a bulky boot and hate the loose feel of the neoprene/rubber ones.

Exactly! That's why I'm searching for something different. Knee highs are nice in early spring when everything is melting and flooding but otherwise I hate walking much in them.

Take a look at Salomon hiking boots, I got a pair last year for shed season and love them. Very little break in time and water proof. They are pricey though. I plan on using them out west in the next couple years to chase elk.
