I am also still getting pics of a young doe with a deformed face. I posted pics of her last winter and some of you said there was nothing wrong with her...this is definitely not "normal"
Checked a couple more cams on my 120 acre lease over the weekend while I was working. Moved a stand and carved out a new food plot location. This is a pretty sweet 8 point with a split brow. I’m going to try to put a buddy on him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is a cool young buck. Gonna call him yardstick. Hopefully he makes it another year or two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another buck showed up I don’t recognize. Looks mature and has some cool character Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The new stand location is pretty sweet. There is an old cattle fence in the woods. The 2 fence lines come to a corner right where the woods meets a steep creek bank. It really pinches the deer movement. I moved a stand into a nasty hedge apple tree on the creek bank. I mowed about a 1/8 acre spot in front of it. In 2-3 weeks I’ll be planting it. Killer spot. Here is a panoramic view from the stand Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here’s the mowed plot, and looking back at the tree from the plot. You can’t tell there’s a stand there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First year following your thread... Just finsihed reading all the pages. Wow, you have some great potential on all your properties! I envy the amount of time and work you can put into your spots! I am doing good to go every couple weekends to my lease here in TX to check my mineral sites and protein feeders. I like how you have a history with all of your bucks, we are about 3 years into doing some good research on ours. Keep up the good work and looking forward to following along this season.
Got me a new project yesterday! Someone gave me this old grain wagon. When I’m done with it, it will be a mobile deer slaying palace Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Checked a camera behind the house last night. Fingers is about done growing and has really blossomed as a 3 year old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One thing I have noticed at virtually all my properties that is concerning. I have far fewer bucks on camera this year. Not limited to one farm which is weird. Thankfully, my top 3 bucks coming into the season are all still around, but outside that I’m not sure what happened. Last year at my house I had legitimately 12-13 bucks over 140”. Lots of big 3 year olds that should be here as 4 year olds now. Thus far this year I have 2 mature bucks on camera at my house. Very strange. At my best farm, which for 2 years has been absolutely polluted with big bucks, even with soybeans on the farm this year I only have 2 mature bucks on camera. My 120 acre lease had 4-5 mature bucks last year, and so far this year I have 1 on camera. Something weird is going on. I haven’t paid as much attention this summer because all my efforts are being directed at 2 deer, but I’m nervous about what happened to all the deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last year we had about 4 or 5 bucks that should be shooters this year wandering in our co-op range. This year only 1 buck thats old enough to shoot. Thw co-ops size is about 1200 acres with another 500 of state land that only 1 other person that isnt in the co op has access to and is made up of 6 landowners. We are worried/wondering as well. That's what's weird...not knowing. We haven't had EHD, and I haven't heard of that many deer getting shot. It's odd that it seems to be on every farm this year. Last year I had 6 different 3 year olds that were all over 150" that should be booners if not close this year. I have not seen a single one of them so far. I hope they are just vacationing somewhere this summer and come back soon.
