Also checked cameras on my big pasture farm. Had a familiar face show up. Last year there was a wide 2 year old 9 point that I saw almost every time I hunted. I passed him multiple times. I thought he was bedding in a 4 acre woods in the corner of a cow pasture. I was right. I picked up one of his sheds in the small woodlot, and found the other side 150 yds away in the pasture. I put a camera up in the woodlot and he was the first buck to show up. He has grown into a great 3 year old. Hopefully his pattern stays the same until next year. If it does, I'll have his number as a 4 year old.

Also had a studly 3 year old 10 point show up. He will be tempting, but there are much bigger deer on the farm

And I also had what may be the biggest 2 year old I have ever seen show up. Tremendous genetic deer. 15 points that I can see so far. I predict this deer will be over 200" if he makes it to 4 years old. I pray he gets body armor until then. He will be scary big.

Boone it seems you need a sidekick to help you take down some of the 8 year olds. As much as it pains me, I will step in to assist you with this terrible problem of way too many giants on your properties.

Well the weekend was busy. Good/bad news from camera checks.

Honeydew, a 4 year old typical 12 point that lives behind me house, is back and bigger than ever. I expect he will be 175-180"

Had a great 3 year old show up too. I still need to look back and see what 2 year old from last year he is, but he's got a great frame. Should be a dandy next year

Camera check on bigger lease was uneventful. Only farm i have that i have zero shooters on camera yet. Soybean plots were depressing. Completely gone. Insane browse pressure and no rain have them pretty much down to dirt. A lot of $$ down the drain.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon building a hay bale blind from scratch. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Looks as good or better than a $700 redneck bale blind.

That's awesome! What kind of material did you use for the frame?

Well I went glassing last night by the house. I stumbled across a big group of deer in a secluded alfalfa field. There was a 160-170" 10 point, a 140" 10 point, and a GIGANTIC 10 point with double drops off the end of his beams! One drop is about 4", the other about 2." I watched him for an hour, and all I had was my phone. I'm going back as soon as the wind is right to put cameras on the edge of the field in hopes of getting his picture. He was big enough that my heart started racing from 400 yards away when I saw him through binos.
