Every live hunt I've seen on Facebook live sucks because they never have a clear connection and is always choppy. Anything live I've watched on Instagram seems to be a lot better. Cool idea.

Got some work done today. Put up a platform and a bale blind overlooking a radish plot. This is one of 2 spots where I think I have a chance at my number one buck.

Also built a frame for another bale blind. I'll skin it tomorrow.

Like having the blind elevated some? Want to get something nicer for my dad to slug hunt out of but figured a blind on a platform would be the cheapest route.

I do. In certain spots I keep them on the ground. But i put a lot either on 4, 6, or 8 ft platforms.

My windows are 14" tall. Blind is tall enough I can stand up inside. I haven't had any issues getting shots with a bow

    Really nice.

What material are you using to skin them? How much $ do you have in each one? Have you ever considered making the frame out of CPVC? Do you think one made with CPVC with about twice that much bracing would be strong enough?

I ask because I am sans welding skills. I drew up a design using CPVC that would cost me about $140 but I can't decide if I think it will be strong enough. I may just build one and see what happens.

Im using 6mil black poly glued to burlap. I don't think cvpc would be a good option. Costs way more per foot than what im using, and cvpc can get brittle in cold weather and break.

I've been waiting for over 2 weeks for an East wind to check a specific camera. Man am I glad I did! If....and a big IF, my number one buck doesn't change his pattern after he sheds his velvet...I have a very good chance of killing him. I have cameras all over the farm (380 acres) and I only have pictures of him in a 20 acre area. I surrounded that area with cameras a couple weeks ago? 6 total, covering all the likely travel routes out of where I suspect he is bedding. Out of 6, I got his pictures on only 3, and 2 of them were only night pics. Here is where it gets interesting. On the third camera, he was there 10 out of 18 days, and every single picture is in daylight, from 10:30 am-1:00 pm! He is using the corner of one particular bean field every day. Always by himself. I've narrowed his current bed down to about a 2 acre area. Yesterday when I checked camera a guarantee he was bedded less than 75 yards from camera. If he is a homebody and doesn't shift into a different fall range, and I get an early October East wind...he may be in trouble.

Got a sweet letter in the mail. Last year I applied for the urban bow hunting program in the city where I work. There was a waiting list. Apparently a slot opened up. I got a letter with an application for the urban zone. I took my proficiency test yesterday and dropped off the application with the Parks and Rec dept. this morning. So fingers crossed I will be able to hunt some of the parks in the Metro! Urban season goes all the way to Jan 28th, so that will be nice once regular season is closed. In the first year, I can only shoot does, but if I shoot at least 5, I will get an incentive buck tag that will carry over to next year. Looking at DNR data, they put deer density in the neighborhoods where I applied at 112 deer per square mile..so hopefully I can find 5 does.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your move out there was a good decision.
