Well a new shooter showed up behind the house! I like him! I think I might have some early June pics, but I need to verify. Definitely mature. Super long beams, tons of mass, matching split g2s. Just not super wide.

Oh well I would let him have an arrow! I'm glad he has deer like that. There is some here in central IL but in 2012 we had a big die off population is starting to get back.

The awesome deer you continue to bring to this forum provide not only entertainment but a significant amount of jealousy! I hope you are able to harvest a few of these brutes, best of luck!

I used to hunt 600 acres in east central Illinois. It was AMAZING in 2007-2011. In 2012 EHD wiped out 70% plus of the deer herd. Farm was never the same. Hunted it up until 2014. Herd still hadn't recovered.

So I have been working on something outside the box. I am getting close to gaining exclusive permission to hunt 180 acres of timber owned by a city. No hunting has ever been allowed. I shed hunted it this spring and found 10, including my biggest of the year. I have been researching city code, and found an old code that says "no hunting without permission from the mayor." So I knocked on every door within 4 blocks of this "park" and over half of residents had complaints about deer damage. I gathered all their names on a petition and approached the Mayor. I met with him and he was unaware of the city code I showed him, but is in favor of granting me permission. He commented he receives many complaints from residents about deer eating flowers, gardens, etc. he goes "all the people that live over there would love you if you killed them all!" So he passed my information to the director of the Parks and Rec dept. I met with him yesterday, and took along copies of urban deer regulations from a couple bigger cities that have urban deer hunting programs, and he is also open to allowing me, but said because the town has never granted anyone permission before, the petition needs to go before the board of parks and rec. So I am presenting/speaking at the next board meeting in mid September. The mayor and director of parks and rec both seem to be in favor, so hopefully I will be granted permission. If I get it...It will be absolutely nuts. Deer numbers in and around this area are over 100 per square mile, due to abundance of food and zero hunting pressure for many years. There will be some serious doe slayage, and there are giant bucks in there. Sometimes you gotta get creative!

Sounds like you might have hit the lotto! Enjoy it while it's exclusive and try not to let anyone local find out or it wont be exclusive for long!

Yes I hope it does not go public. That is my biggest concern.

Won't it be public if you have to make a presentation at the next board meeting?

Yes technically...I'm just hopeful they don't decide to go to DNR and register town as an urban zone..that would make it known to everyone in the state. I'm going to advocate keeping it as a local ordinance.

OK serious question. I am going to try live streaming some hunts this fall. Would you rather see them on Facebook live or Instagram live?
