Crazy as it sounds, i have about 90% decided not to hunt this farm this year. My top 3 deer are on other farms, and this one has 4 giant 3 year olds I want to keep safe for a year.

great management tactics leaving those stud 3s alone and letting them grow. it'll pay off big time you keep the solid work up.

Great thread and good luck this fall!

Checked camera at smaller lease yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised!

Don Vito got a lot bigger in the last month. He's a cool looking old deer

Also had a brand new buck show up! Funky looking buck...I like him. Super tight rack, long brow tines, all his tines lean forward, and a drop tine!

This buck added a ton of inches since last month. I didn't pay him much attention before, but he has sprouted g4s and turned into a nice 3 year old

Just as an interesting update, I was studying pictures and it is amazing how much some deer blow up.
This is the Pine 9. He was a pretty ordinary (actually below average) 115" 3 year old 9 point last year. This year he is more like 150." I found his right antler under a pine tree in February. This is why i love trail cameras. They give you so much information.

Well this is pretty cool. I planted a kill plot at the home farm on August 5th. It is in the middle of a patch of crp. If you look back at the pictures when I planted, I put one edge up against a tree I planned on making a mock scrape under. I put up a camera to watch plot, and the bucks beat me to it! Every buck that walks through the plot is using the licking branch! This tree never had a scrape under it before. It was surrounded by weeds. I might add this was done without any of those cool mock scrape starting doohickeys. I just made it easy for the bucks to do what they already wanted to. This spot is going to be AWESOME!

Also checked another camera this afternoon. Mr Clean has turned into a STUD 10 point. Beams and tine length for days!

Good call on finding the community licking branch. I found one last year and I bet I got ever buck with in a mile hitting that scrape.

If only it were that easy. By the time you drew a tag he would be 12 years old lol.

Haha. The problem with getting Trident killed is he lives in the same place as my top 3 bucks, so he is low on the priority list until I tag out.
